Is this item suitable for left handed people? The shape of the scoop looks like it would work better for right-handed people.

The item is not symmetrical so it may have been intended for a right handed person. However, I do not see why it cannot be used left handed. The point of contact with the ice cream will be different (because it is not symmetrical) and it still has the pointy side like the right hand.
