When it arrived the jar was sealed but covered in something gross had to throw it out. FAST!!!

First time buyer so ??
Uncle asked me to order this because he wanted to try it in a batch of our homemade Kimchi. Not sure why it is red and more like a paste of chunks than salted shrimp. Don't get me wrong, it is salt and shrimp - but why red color (dye?) and closer to pureed? Anyway, all it did to the Kimchi was make it saltier and upon inspection, couldn't even identify shrimp parts after the initial stir. Be careful when using this, it packs a lot of salt punch. Not products fault, but packaging was HORRIBLE for these. Picked it up later at an asian market to try because the two I ordered from Amazon showed up in a nasty stinky purple oozing package on my front porch. These are glass jars and might as well been packaged in a box of hammers and nails - not amazons finest, but they refunded. Offered to send them pics but was told for some reason that wouldn't be necessary.
