Homebrew Essential Piece of Kit
This little thing is awesome and an essential item for anyone home brewing. My wife recently got me into wine making by buying me a comprehensive starter kit that included everything. The one piece of that kit I hated was the Hydrometer which is used for measuring starting and ending specific gravity. To use that you have to extract about a cup of wine from the fermenter and then try to get an accurate reading from the hydrometer which floats in a test tube. I didn’t like extracting that much wine each time to measure. Even though you can put that wine back into fermenter I don’t like to take the risk. Additionally it is not easy getting an accurate reading from the hydrometer so I started looking for a solution and then found this amazing addition to my kit.I got some long neck pipette droppers which fit into the hole used by the airlock and extend long enough to reach the surface of the liquid so no more need to remove the lid to the primary fermenter. Then just plop a drop onto this refractometer and it will tell you the specific gravity down to about 7 decimal places. I cross referenced with hydrometer and this thing is spot on every time. There is also the ability to save starting specific gravity on day 1. Then when you test throughout the fermentation process it will compare starting SG and current SG and tell you what the alcohol percentage is.Based on the menu you can use this for a ton of other things but for what I use it for it is invaluable.Highly recommend buying one.

Seems to do what I needed
I needed to check the cleaner concentration in production wash tanks and could not come up with a good way. I did a lot of reading and a Brix meter seemed to be a good choice. I have a manual one that we used for coolant, but it was sensitive enough to get a good reading. I did some tests after receiving this and was able to establish a good baseline for the concentration we need (7%) and a lower limit for when we need to add more cleaner.

Accurate and Easy
I have been using this refractometer now for over 6 months. I brew beer and use both an analog refractometer and hydrometer. This digital refractometer has been spot on for me. Enough so that I've stopped using the hydrometer and save quite a bit of beer when testing for gravity. Remember - if you use a refractometer to measure SG during or after fermentation, you must use a calculator (lots of them available online or in recipe software).

The app will not connect to the device.
It connected a couple times, initially. But after making sure to update the app and be sure my bluetooth is on, it still won't connect to the meter. I'm searching if there's an alternative to using the QR code, but for now it is unusable.

Very accurate
Bought this a month and have been using it since with fruit to determine ripeness, quality, etc. It seems to be made well and requires no batteries. I am posting this review because I just got done checking the calibration with water and a standard 20% Brix solution. It was spot on after two years. I chose this because I don't need the precision of optical and I preferred the easy, foolproof, battery proof, analog version. I would buy again or recommend to others.

Gets the job done
I use this to make wine and mead and how and it helps me get through the brew process. it connects to a app and allows me to label my readings and compared them to the previous. Using this with a brew calculator I stop using hydrometers for the time being to see how this compares. So far 5 stars.

Small and accurate!
I was slightly dubious at first. For the price… could it work? Turns out the answer is YES!I’ve used it multiple times, next to my hydrometer and the results are spot on. It is even quite accurate when adjusting for fermented solution and messing with its index value in brewing software.Worth the price. Easy to use and understand.

Formerly Apprehensive. Formally Impressed.
I was worried that this refractometer wouldn’t be too accurate since it’s so affordable but I’m happy to say I was wrong. It’s very easy to use, very accurate and very portable. The app was also very nicely designed. Which was surprising as often times things that come with an app just throw together a half rate app and call it a day. The app pairs well with the product and it all works very well
