StrongArm 4370PR Ford Escape Liftgate Lift Support, Pair Pack of 2

Bought a pair of these for a 2010 Escape. Tried to replace them one at a time but found the new one to be too long and incompressible. Also, the C-clips did not cooperate. Finally, in frustration, I disconnected the other old strut as well to see if it would allow the liftgate to open a bit further -- and it did! I was then able to replace both struts without difficulty (except for more fighting with those darn C-clips.) Also, recommend using a step ladder to support the liftgate as it's much more stable/safer than using a 2 x 4.

These were very easy to install. Took a total of four minutes for both! They work well. Good quality.

Piston takes a while to fully expand on my 2012 Escape. Fits good and does support the lift gate once open.These same type were used on a 2011 Escape and allowed that gate to open fully. Both are Limited and doubt a difference in weight.

I am not a mechanic, but I was able to install these gate lift struts with no problem. I couldn't get a better price anywhere else. Instead of having to push the lift gate up and hope it stays, with these struts it pops open with ease.

I put these on my 2012 Ford Escape. The lift gate opens quickly until the last 6 to 8 inches. Then it abruptly slows down and takes about 5 seconds to go to full extension. I can see why this would be good design for a gentle stop. But, I'm not going to be thinking about that when it's cold and windy and I gotta get my stuff in the back, now! Once it does reach full extension, the lift gate is hard against the stop, no sagging. The body is thinner than my original equipment struts so, there is no problem with interference with the truck body. They were easy to install. Caution: Use a prop of some kind to hold the lift gate fully open when replacing the gas struts. With one side out, the remaining strut won't hold the lift gate up - and it's heavy!

Went on easy , watched u tube to see how to install . You need someone to hold up lift gate , or prop it open .

I had these out of the packages and installed on our 2007 Escape Hybrid in less than 15 minutes. The old supports began to fail about three months earlier, and the local Ford dealer wanted $400 to replace them. I bought two for less than $40, and did the install myself. Sadly, I didn't magically find the extra $360 in my bank account, but I am VERY happy that our liftgate works properly again. It works so well that it actually nearly smacked my son in the face a week after we installed it, as he was used to REALLY having to lift to keep it open. Thanks to our favorite mechanic who showed us how to easily retract the clips that keep the piston in place. It was MUCH easier than I could have ever imagined.

Bought for 2012 Ford escape (bought two for the lift gate --- *not* the glass window in the lift gate). It worked great. Install took 40 seconds each. All you need is a screwdriver to loosen the C-clamp of the OLD units on each end. The new ones (these StrongArm units) pop right on [no tools required -- but you might have to rotate one of the ends slightly, to line them up with the joint], and botta-bing, botta-boom, you're ready to roll.These lifts worked much better than the stock units. A+.

Replaced factory original that showed fatigued after 8 years. These replacement units initially tossed the lift gate upright to maximum opening but after a few days are lifting 50% and no better than the originals that were replaced.

Though the time to arrive was lengthy. The installation was really a snap! After a couple of weeks, they perform extremely well.
