What is the best devices to use with this in the car? Laptop charger, what else? Thanks!

I use it for my portable oxgenator and nebulizer (when traveling), and small vac to clean my car. You just have to make sure you have the car turned on to use this device.

Where can I purchase just the cable?

If you are asking about the cable that plugs into the power receptacle in the car, you can’t. It’s wired to the device.

Does it heat up fast and a lot

I didn't notice it heating up but I just plugged it in and didn't check to see if it was hot. But when I unplugged it I didn't notice excessive heat.
