EBPP Stop the Scratch Finally I've found a product that actually works! I have 3 cats and they love to use my bedroom carpet as a scratching pad. As soon as I sprayed this stuff on the area, they didn't go near it. They actually wouldn't walk on it! The only drawback is it only works for about 24 hours and then you have to respray.

Does not work at all. Sprayed on brand new $2000 couch and cat already scratched the couch within an hour. Worthless and false advertisement.

My young adult cat had started to develop a furniture-scratching problem. The good news is that I used this spray a few times, and the problem has improved markedly. The bad news is that I have no idea whether the spray is the reason, or was it my firm "NO" & a good scratching post that did it? The spray must be sprayed on repeatedly throughout the day and only lasts a few hours; this was hard to time correctly... I'd spray, three hours would go by and the cat would scratch. If I had remembered to spray again, would it have stopped him? In any case, he has largely stopped so I give some of the credit to the spray. As far as the spray itself, as advertised, I found the scent to be very mild & perfectly pleasant. Also noteworthy, I sprayed it on all sorts of surfaces (including leather), and it left no visible residue. So, at least the spray does no harm (and maybe it even helps!).

I've had my first 8oz. bottle for more than a year and it's close to the end. And the liquid is clear like water. It doesn't really say this, but it's like putting a collar on your dog and expecting it to behave! This product is an adjunct to proper cat training! I have THREE young rescues and a house full of new furniture! I provide toys and use them with my cats, and I take the time to teach them the word NO. A hand clap or loud noise is a good startle, and will help stop bad behavior. I've sprayed this Stop The Scratch stuff many times... backs of the fancy upholstered bar stools, corners of the couch and pretty much any unacceptable soft surface in my home! The spray smells faintly of rosemary, but the odor dissipates quickly. And it doesn't stain! I've not had issues with the spray bottle either. Of note, I did purchase another brand of cat deterrent at the same time, and since it smelled strongly, I used only Stop The Scratch, and it works! I'm too irresponsible (busy) to spray on a regular schedule, but my Harvey will snap a claw on a barstool to remind me that it's time to respray! I like this stuff. It works, in conjunction with normal efforts, and I find that it helps prevent a habit from forming.

*update* the company was very kind to reach out and offer a full refund, which was unexpected. The product is still unusable for me but I’m very happy to see the company reading reviews and offering solutions without being asked to follow up, even on reviews that aren’t 1 stars. Improving my rating from 3 to 4 stars for the awesome customer service, despite the product not working out for me. I’m allergic to patchouli, the ingredients list doesn’t indicate any patchouli, the only herb listed is rosemary- which I’ve never had any issue with, however as soon as I opened the package and sprayed my couch I immediately felt my eyes water, nose run, throat tickle, and started to cough. The other listed ingredients don’t seem to be unusual or foreign in my house, so I’m not sure what’s causing this reaction but it is exactly like what happens when I’m around pachouli and I’ve never had that reaction to anything else before. I will say that I think the cat has avoided the couch more than expected, but I haven’t been able to use it as instructed because I’m fairly sure I’m allergic to something in it, and now that it’s been sprayed in my house I’m just waiting for my symptoms to go away - two days later I’m still coughing and my throat itches.

Purchased September 2022 and used immediately and often on furniture and adjacent areas. Never damaged fabrics, plants or wood; had a very pleasant odor. I've used more than half the bottle's 8 ounce contents as directed in the beginning and beyond. Picked up the bottle 3 days ago and began spraying before I left the house...much to my dismay the lingering odor was unbearable! Ammonia!! Breath-taking! I followed up with Lysol to rid that intolerable aroma. It's difficult to determine when the liquid turned sour since my last use sometime in late December/early January and February 18, 2023. But I must flush the remaining contents, wasting money on a product that at first was a good deterrent for my year old female and few month old male. Perhaps EMMYSBESTPETS product should have an expiration date. At first I was thrilled, but now am extremely disappointed.

It really works. My Kitty was all over my delicate fern. She was slowly killing it. Plant is flourishing now!!

This didn't work for my cat. But its worth a try.
