Use Peanut Butter instead
I bought Provoke at the same time I bought new rat traps from the same company. The traps work great; easy to load bait. But, the Provoke doesn't work. We live in Arizona and have year-round problems with pack rats. The Provoke info. lead me to try it vs. my tried and true peanut butter. Before Provoke I would get a pack rat about every 7 - 10 days. When I switched to Provoke I didn't get any rats for a month. So I decided to test Provoke vs. peanut butter. I set a peanut butter trap next to a Provoke trap in a spot where I frequently catch pack rats. The next day I had a pack rat in the peanut butter trap. I pulled the Provoke trap, reset the peanut butter trap and two days later had another pack rat. Save yourself the $$$ and lack of performance; use peanut butter vs. Provoke. But their traps are great.

It works!
I recently purchased the Provoke Professional Rat Attractant and I couldn't be more pleased with the results! Effectiveness: This attractant truly works wonders. I was struggling with a rat problem in my garage, and after using Provoke, I noticed an immediate increase in activity around the traps I set up. It seems to be incredibly effective at luring them in, and I was able to catch several within just a few days. Ease of Use: The application is straightforward; just place a small amount in the desired area, and let it do its job. It’s easy to use, which is a huge plus for anyone dealing with pest issues. Odor: Another thing I appreciated was the minimal odor. Many attractants have a strong, unpleasant smell, but Provoke has a more subtle scent that doesn’t overwhelm the space. This made it easier to use without worrying about how it would affect the environment around it. Overall Impression: In summary, the Provoke Professional Rat Attractant is a fantastic solution for those dealing with rodent issues. It’s effective, easy to use, and has a manageable scent. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to tackle a rat problem effectively!

They came out and recommended Provoke as they had seen success with it in ...
I was using peanut butter and the T-rex traps with little success so I got fed up and called a pest control company. They came out and recommended Provoke as they had seen success with it in my area. They added Provoke to my traps and within two days I caught 3 rats and the trap was set off 2 more times with the rats narrowly escaping. I had also purchased a trap that zaps the rats. It hadn't worked at all, but placing Provoke in the trap resulted in a rat being trapped within 24 hours. One thing that was also recommended is to place the traps along the walls as that is the rat's natural path. For the snap trap, I have found best results by having the trap snap toward the wall.

I have tried it several times with no results at all...
...I don't want to give this product one star because maybe the rats in my area are the ones who deserve the poor rating. Maybe they're snobby, free range, organic rats but they just seem to walk right past this stuff and straight for the cat food. Some enjoy citrusy fruit and others like Nutella or even sharp cheddar but I have yet to see any roof rat around my yard touch this stuff. I have tried it several times for at least six months with quite a few rats (at least ten diferrent rats) and none were attracted. Nutella mixed with veggie oil to add viscosity is the most efficient attractant I have seen to date (good enough to draw a strong curiosity for at least a short while on even the smartest and slickest of them all). Maybe Provoke should add some Nutella to this stuff. Upon taking a quick whiff, one can't help but notice a strong fruity and chocolaty aroma/essence which makes me wonder: Stop using that cheap chocolate sauce. I hope this review is helpful to EVERYONE. I also want to add that I'm not trying to knock on this product, I'm sure it's got its use, but it just hasn't worked for me at all.

Set them up against the wall where the rats and mice travel add the bait gel.
This worked great, I started seeing my cacti and agave eaten and dragged so I knew there was something starting to nest someplace. Well that someplace was under my air conditioning unit they were tunneling underneath and through the gravel. And one night I actually saw one crawling by the block wall. So I purchased this along with the Protecta Boxes and the T-Rex traps. I put it up against the block wall near the air conditioner, and another on the far side of the yard. Day one caught a big rat in the trap near the air conditioner. Day 2 caught one on the opposite end of the yard. Day 4 caught another by the air conditioner. There has been a lot of construction near me and a lot of vacant land also close by so they are very active at night, I started seeing them again and have baited the traps again. To dispose of them I use some gloves with a plastic bag open the T-Rex and drop the rat or mouse in the bag and dump.

Does not work
I first bought a bottle of Tomcat mouse attractant, and it worked well, but the bottle was very small. So, since this attractant was in a much bigger bottle, I purchased it, assuming it worked as well as Tomcat. Unfortunately, it does not work. I have a dozen traps in multiple locations, and have yet to catch anything. In one location I have a live camera. I can see the rats approach the trap, sniff it, then run away. So, that's not good attractant in my opinion. Peanut butter works better than that.

Winning the War with the Tree Rats with this product!
Read the description carefully as this works with some rat types and not very well with others. The tree rats in my neighborhood love this stuff and it's bumped up my success rate with traps by 100%. Best used with the plastic traps that have a small reservoir you can fill while the trap is not set. Trust me when I say you don't want to be applying this to a trap that is set already. Like any food or attractant they do become inured to it so mix it up with other baits if you have a big population. I've also noticed that it works best fresh so don't expect it to pull rats to your trap as well on day two or beyond. Freshen it up! Running hot water over the trap dislodges the "puck" that remains when it dries out ... painlessly. So this is a bona fide great product ... for certain rats and people that can read and follow instructions.
