desertcart.com: Magic Knight Rayearth 2: Omnibus Edition: 9781595826695: CLAMP, CLAMP: Books Review: A Bold Daring Dream is Even Dreamier! - This is the older omnibus set from Dark Horse and not the newer one, but basically this is the second half of the series. The first story was like a basic video game set up, the girls are summoned to a Final Fantasy type world, they beat the bad guy and go home. The second part throws a lot of that out of the window giving us a tale of unexpected twists and surprises. Clamp's artwork improved immensely in this series too. Gone are a lot of the small chibi side drawings with really small type, which were really hard for me to read since Dark Horse printed them way too small in the first volume. Everything was a lot cleaner and easier to digest. So overall I give the entire Magic Knight Rayearth manga 5 Ingrids from the Capcom video game Capcom Fighting Evolution out of 5! Can't wait until I encounter these girls again in Super Robot Wars T on the Switch! Review: Good manga in great condition - It was in really great shape for being used. Quite enjoyed the book.

Manga is classic Clamp :)
I have been a Clamp fan for years and years and this Omnibus edition of Magic Knight Rayearth 2 is exactly what Clamp fans expect. High quality beautiful illustration and a story that is easy to follow are trademarks of Clamp and they are all in their Omnibus editions just as they are in they regular releases made years ago. If you like a cute story and pretty pictures this is perfect for you. Make sure to pick up the first one too.

An excellent edition of the manga, but the story isn't as good as the first one.
Dark Horse did an excellent job with this omnibus edition. Yes, it's HUGE. The quality of the paper and the binding are very good, though. It's very readable despite the size. The translation is great quality too. As for the story... This is one of those unusable cases where I liked the anime better than the original manga. The first Rayearth story was pretty good in both the manga and the anime (but the anime's version was a lot better,) but this second Rayearth story felt a little "thrown together." I didn't feel like CLAMP was passionate about it when the wrote it, so they didn't include as good of story telling or as good of a plot. It's worth reading if you liked the first Rayearth, and it's not bad, but it's just not as good as the first. The anime made this story better in many ways. If you've only seen the anime, you might be disappointed by how "light hearted" and fast-moving the manga actually is. The anime makes the story richer, heavier, longer, and includes much better character development. The manga is mostly a comedy that does not take itself seriously at all, which is unfortunate because it's actually a great story that could afford to take itself seriously.

I thought this volume was a little weaker than the first half, but I still enjoyed it! Nice ending to a good series :)

Buona lettura!

Magic Knight Rayearth II omnibus contains 3 full volumes plus plenty of coloured bonus pages. Magic Knight Rayearth II continues from the first series where Hikaru, Umi and Fuu are unexpectedly summoned to a different world where they are named the "Magic Knights" and told to save the Princess. In this sequel, the trio of girls once again end up in that world but this time there are many more enemies to fight as the world is in chaos again. For a manga that ran from March 1995 to April 1996, the art still looks stunning! If you have seen the anime, that deviated from the manga as the manga wasn't completed by then. It's the same size as the first omnibus. The spines are different though. The first volume had a small Dark Horse logo at the top while his one has a big logo at the bottom. It kind of ruins the look. The translation seems a bit weird in some places. This book was originally planned to be released in February of last year but it has only just come out so they have had plenty of time to check things over. But still, I'm thankful for Dark Horse releasing this at all and it even has coloured pages! I enjoyed this overall as I do with most CLAMP series. If you like magical girl type stories then you should love this. Be sure to read the first omnibus first though!
