This item was spot on, PERFECT!Like wearing POSH silk underwear, on your face.Those expecting a heavy Winter Balaclava may be disappointed with theTHIN material, but this is an ideal weave of silk.The PURE SILK will perform better than any polyester gear.I would describe this as a LINER, and and this is the best helmet liner I own.Silk also protects against UV.Nice MEDIUM to LIGHT WEIGHT weave of Excellent Silk.This is a very high quality and consistent silk product.These could be used for sun protection or as a winter trail liner.I use only silk as a trail liner because it is very predictable and easy to manage.If you want more warmth, double up with a second balaclava, and thenremove and rotate layers to remove moisture.In summer heat, a single layer of silk works to cool and block sun.In deep winter, a top layer may be required.There is nothing like silk to pull moisture away.We carry more than one of these, clipping one out to dry on apack while we switch to another. This allows control of water against the skin.

LOVE this thing! Never knew how awesome it'd be. Wore it snowmobiling and also trekking through iceland and it kept the wind off my face and was the perfect baselayer under an earband thingie and hat. I wear it over my nose, sometimes under my chin, and once, over a facemask filter. My head is about 22" circumference and the medium fit perfectly. Not too tight at all (I prefer a bit of a loose fit), but still stayed up over my nose and/or mouth, depending on where I put it. The neck was not too tight, and I liked how it draped.A few times, I got lazy and tried venturing out without it, and my face got red from wind/sun burns. That never happened in the times I was smart and put it on. Fortunately, I quickly realized the 2 seconds it takes to put it on (then 2 seconds to take it off) is totally worth it. It's even easy with gloves on. Plus, it rolls up into a tiny ball, so it's easy to stash and keep on hand.I can wear it several times w/o it getting smelly. It actually never got smelly, but I washed it after 4 or 5 wearings, anyway. Washed in sink while traveling, dried fast.Is quite soft, no chemical odor, dye doesn't run, seams are flat and comfortable, fit is perfect for me, packs small, very breathable, handles sweat/heat well, and best thing: no static!Wish I could get it in other colors, too, especially a "natural"/no dye color.My gratefulness goes out to the little silk worms who gave their lives so I could have this wonderful product! I bought their inner gloves earlier and needed a balaclava too for my motorcycle riding. Like the gloves, these are also thin unlike the other ones out there which makes it difficult for us to wear the helmet. The silk fabric is smooth and does not cause any irritation. Good product for usage in cold conditions.The seller immediately contacted me after purchase and requested me to be careful handling the product around rough surfaces especially velcro, which was nice. Awesome customer service.

I needed a balaclava to wear under a snowmobile helmet so I purchased 2, and this is the one I wore.PROS: Soft, non-allergenic. Thin enough to wear under a helmet! Easy to wash and store, quick to dry. Kept me from getting wind/sun burn.CONS: Doesn't really keep its shape - I was constantly pushing or tuggin on it, sticking it back into the helmet, pushing it up as it fell down around my mouth - that was a real bummer! At times I had to pull over to readjust it. Not overly warm in cold temps - I was riding in single digits and it was just barely warm enough. If you are using it for something a bit less frigid it might be fine.

I am a very experienced mountaineer/canyoneer/rock climber (and gear junkie) and !'m always looking for things that makes my time in the wilderness happier. As a liner or, more often, as a stand alone balaclava, this little gem fills the bill. It weights nothing, stuffs small enough to put anywhere, deploys quickly and easily, and just plain feels good. It goes with me on every trip.

I have been looking for another silk face mask for a few years, but was unable to find one. I now have horses to feed twice a day and we are having an extremely cold winter. This mask keeps my face warm. As I am working with hay which can be very dusty, the mask gets quite dirty every day. I just wash it out when I come in and hang it to dry and it's dry when I'm ready to use it that afternoon. It's holding up well and keeps me warm!

This is a nice silky head covering and it does keep me fairly warm in light temperatures but it’s definitely not 100% silk as the label claims. For one thing it has elastic stretch to it, and it’s already developed a couple of fluffy snags after just one use. It’s possibly it’s a silk blend, but there is some synthetic fabric in the mix as well.

This is exactly what I wanted. It’s fairly stretchy without being too loose. I wanted it for cold days when a scarf won’t cover enough skin and to help my asthma by warming the air I breathe in during winter. I also felt it would protect my face from the irritation from wearing face masks all day for virus prevention. I wear a regular face mask over it to prevent the mask from touching my skin, with the head part pulled back to behind my head so it’s like a half mask/neck warmer. It does the trick.

Great quality, fits well, folds small, keeps the drafts out.

Good fit, certainly keeping us warm, worn under a hat in Finland, at minus 20 degrees Celsius. Generous fit for smaller children, but still work.

it certainly did the job whilst skiing this year - although seemed to get bigger as the week went on - and I have got a small head - but it worked

This came as a special offer when I bought the silk gloves. It is great, very thin so it goes under my Icelandic fur hat but adds extra protection in a very comfortable way to my face. Not itchy like wool.

Perfect fit and comfortable balaclava. I shall test it out in the Antarctic.

I ride my motorcycle all year so I'm forever looking for improved products. I tried both gloves and balaclava yesterday on my thirty mile commute and did not find the an improvement over my woollen tube and gloves. Prehap's they were to tight with not enough circulation. I will persist and hoe the claims come true...
