Fantastic Carabiner
I just bought 2 more of these as they have proven to be exceptional carabiners at a reasonable price. I use carabiners along with a climbing rope to hike with my dog. This allows him to run 25 feet ahead or lag 25 feet behind me yet he is still leashed. My dog has broken a few cheaper carabiners from lunging but so far these tough guys have held up wonderfully. This past memorial day weekend I was hiking with my sister and she got stuck in the current of a river. The banks were so slippery she couldn't get out. I used my dogs rope/Carabiner combination to pull her out. The rope wrapped around my waist with the carabiner hooked and sent the loose end to her. Got her pulled out in no time. I definitely recommend this carabiner though probably not for actual climbing.

LIFE HACK - Make your Dog Leash Un-break-loose-able
Recently my dogs leash clasp got unhooked twice when out and about with him, luckily in safe places! But the experience made me think I needed a more secure solution for my doggie who loves to shake and do all sort of weird maneuvers which sometimes break him loose. I bought two of these and used them on his 6 foot standard leash and even his retractable. The hack is very simple. For the retractable you can simply cute the tap, remove the existing clasp and then re sew the tape by hand in a matter of minutes and its good to go. (Please test first that you sewn it enough times)For the standard leash I took a hammer to the clasp mechanism and broke it off, and the carabiner fit right in the existing leash loop. Voila a leash that wont come undone if its locked!

They seem to be a bit on the cheap side, but I have not tested them thoroughly.I keep these in my vehicle, in the rare happenstance that an event may occur when I will need to attach them to my 550 paracord and pull someone from the river or pull a large item with them.I think what I do not like about them is that the retention piece for lock on the gate is a small metal incomplete ring, which is set into a recessed groove. Seems highly prone to failure, rather than just casting or milling it as a one-piece section of the gate.

Double size hammock use
I had some carabiners rated at 500 pounds from I bought from Home Depot originally, and they had become out of shape and the lock piece was not lining up anymore. I found these rated for 1100 lbs, and thought I would give them a try, as they also had tubular lock as well. They were nice and light weight compared to other ones I had, and a little smaller. However they worked well with my setup, and so far are doing really well. I only had them on for a month or so before I had to put away for storage durning winter. We will see how well they handle next spring, when I bring it out again.

Wouldn't trust it with my weight climbing
I used 2 of these to hang a punching bag (200 lb heavy bag) and after about a year of use these are starting to uncurl. They will still lock in place but they are elongating. One of them is stuck and will no longer open, it'll have to be cut off given the current pattern. The other is about to slip out and the barrel lock can't screw shut anymore. This 2nd one will fail open shortly. Granted, they took a thrashing before beginning to fail, but I wouldn't recommend them for a serious climber or any usage where you will need to RELY on them.

When you want to keep your dog secure
I had an incident when a leash clip opened and let Marti (2+ yr old standard poodle) loose in Pasadena. She is a frisky poodle and ran around playing keep-away for about 15 minutes and then returned to hassle Bobbi wherein I caught her and we continued our walk.An online video suggested using locking carabiners on my leash and after a couple of tries I found these and they are the perfect size for my leash. The leash clip is locked closed with electrician's tape and the carabiner locks easily.

Light weight, escape and accident proof to replace the usual snaps on leashes for really big dogs.
I know this isn't exactly what it was designed for, but I bought this to use on my 80 lb Akita puppy's leash. He gets excited and doesn't know his own strength. Most of the snaps that come on leashes can pop open easily or break and there goes your dog. This locking carabiner works perfectly!! It's light weight and doesn't act like an anchor on the leash. And because it locks, even the most determined dog can't pop it open. Now if I could just find a leash as good as the clasp........ :-)

Looks great and very usable
I'm not a climber, but i've use these to hold on to things, carry stuff altogether, my carkeys to the belt loop. Although keys are wigling constantly the finish has barely scratched.
