Easily holding up a 50-pound carpet
I am using a spare bedroom as a recording studio / video teleconference room, and I really needed to knock down a ton of reverb and echo. I decided I could do it most efficiently by hanging a 5' x 7' deep-pile carpet on the wall behind me. I bought a carpet advertised as weighing 26 pounds, but when it arrived, it actually weighed nearly twice that. These clips were not daunted in the least. I mounted a well-braced curtain rod on the wall and hung the carpet by putting these clips on one edge of the carpet and hanging the back part over the rod. The clips work brilliantly. They are not overly difficult to pry open. The opening between the "jaws" is enough to readily work with. When you clamp the cover down, they really hold; and true to the advertising, I cannot observe them harming the carpet in any way. (I'm not very handy, so when I accidentally hung the carpet upside down, I got plenty of opportunity to observe how the clips worked as I undid and redid the whole project!) I'm impressed as heck at the beefy strength of the clips: even when the stress on them was twice what I expected, they took it in stride. Not bad looking, either!
