This is an Average Magnifier
I bought this for an elderly person with diminished vision. She did not find it useful for her purposes of reading a magazine or newspaper, which were very difficult before trying the magnifier.Overall, I found this to be an average large magnifier. It is a Fresnel-type flat magnifier that has decent magnification, but like all Fresnel-type lenses, only so-so sharpness. The advantage of Fresnel lenses is that they are flat and lightweight, which allows much larger size magnifiers than when using plastic lenses, which would be very heavy and thick at that same size. The built-in illumination helps, but since the magnifier is a bit bulky for elderly people to handle, results may be less than optimal. On the positive side, it is inexpensive, so even if there is only a small benefit to the user, it may be a useful low vision aid.

Happy
Got this magnifying glass reader for my 70 YO Dad who is suffering from cataracts.According to him this is one of the better magnifying glass readers simply because of the hands free options, which allow him to keep the magnifying glass steady, eliminating any dizziness associated with constantly moving a lens as he reads. He had previously used another product that was not hands free and he kept losing his place on the page/having to refocus his eyes every time he moved the lens and it was very frustrating for him.The cons of this product is that the lights offered with the reader are simply too dim to be effective. Also, if you use bright overhead lighting, there is a glare on the magnifying glass. However, a light source from the side is a great solution for this issue.Overall, my Dad is pretty pleased with his new magnifying glass. I think it is a relief for him to not have to squint or hold his books right under his nose.

Works well. A little smaller than I thought it would be.
I got this for my grandmother who has very poor eyesight. I guess I thought that it would be bigger than it actually is. I assumed it was similar to the tray tables for eating in bed. It is much smaller than that, but still an effective device for her to use. It will do the job that she needs it to do, and that is all I can ask for. I like that it has the legs to make it a hands free device. That definitely will help her by preventing her from having to use only one hand because the other would be holding the magnifying glass. All in all, I think it is a good product. The lights that come installed in the magnifying glass are definitely a big help as well, as she sometimes has trouble with darker things.

Images through magnifier distorted
I bought this to use at the office when doing credit card reconciliation. My plan was to place it on the desk over the statment to make the print larger. I have been unable to place it in a way that I can use it. It does have a string attached sos you can hang it from your neck. The magnification is quite strong and would most likely work for someone with severe vision loss. It just isn't what I bought it for.

I can see the small stitches while crafting!
I can hang it from my neck to look down at my needlepoint and set it up on legs to look at my sewing. I'm turning into my mother! But the oversized magnifying glass is working and allowing me to continue to craft.
