Same as NastySuduko3 - Mensa is not on book .
I thought I was getting a Mensa Nasty Suduko 3 .My husband has done all the others, but this is just Nasty Suduko 3 . Kind of deceiving .But my husband is already doing it even though he has done it before .The bigger size and spiral cover are nice touch .

Spiral binder is great - large bold numbers - not too difficult
I don't do sudoku - for me, it's crossword puzzles. I buy these books for my Japanese wife, who spends many hours working on them. She really loves the spiral binder books, as they lie flat. Her old eyes truly appreciate the large, bold print. I can't really judge the difficulty of these puzzles, but my wife whips through most of them pretty fast. But they keep her busy, and off my back, so I love them.

HAVEN'T STARTED IT YET
I am still finishing a 400,Puzzle one with Will Shortz entitle: the little black book of Soduko (also sold by Amazon) that has four different levels that I have been working on for sometime. In that Puzzle Book, I do one Light and Easy; another Moderate; then Demanding and then Extremely demanding...and then I start again back again.I have 15 puzzles of each to finish and then I will venture with my new Absolutely Nasty Sudoku. Not sure how tough that one really is. I will do my best to remember to let you know. :)I have to say it is a great way to work with impatience, nerves or even when you can't go back to sleep - it concentrates the mind on numbers which are objective and also on problem solving. It is truly fun and enjoyable if you are not using it to judge yourself or your speed but take the stance of patience and one step at a time with a sprinkle of chip chip...as a stonecutter would.. do not attempt to finish puzzles in one day...just do a bit and then come back next day or... if there is a need, pick it up but do not get hooked...keep it easy peasy.... Basically, I keep it in the bathroom. Seems to work best there :)

Great Sudoku book for people who find most Sudoku books to be too easy
Over 200 puzzles, answers in the back. Almost all the puzzles use special techniques in order to solve, so it's much more entertaining than filling in numbers mindlessly. You actually have to think, sometimes do a puzzle several times in order to understand the technique needed to solve. This is not an absolutely monster book, in terms of difficulty. But it will certainly make you a better puzzler if you can get through it.

a lot of fun for those looking for hard-to-work Sudoku puzzles this series ...
Difficult, challenging, hard to complete, a lot of fun for those looking for hard-to-work Sudoku puzzles this series is the ONLY book to hae truly hard puzzles. If you want hard puzzles that make you think and look everything over twice, the Absolutely Nasty Sudoku book series is for you. Each book is harder than the last, making the fourth book an ultimate test of your Sudoku abilities and your patience. This series is for those who know hard to work Sudoku puzzles and can finish a newspaper puzzle in under five minutes.I am now solving these puzzles for a third time and have yet to solve each puzzle. This is a series you can count on to make a prime solving event each time you open the book, and every time to try the book. If you an get every puzzle in one of these books then you are a true Sudoku master.

What was the final technique used to solve?
Size of puzzles good for marking. Paper durable for erasing. Spiral bound nice. But instead of just showing the final results it would be nice if the final technique used to solve would be shown by highlighting the involved squares, for example an xyz wing. That's like writing an algebra answer without showing the formula used to solve the problem.

Not A Nasty Review!
Bought this as a xmas gift for my best friend. We both love suduko, but always have a hard time looking for a book that is spiraled and with paper with easy erasing for mistakes. I read the reviews and choosed this as my gift to her. Did wish the book could be flipped all the way back but that's okay, it's better than losing your paper trying to fight your book to stay open when doing a puzzle. Will update review after she uses it!

The only choice
If you are finding most of the puzzles in the newspapers too easy and are looking for something more challenging then as far as I am concerned this series is the only choice. Admittedly this first book is quite easy and doesn't require techniques more difficult than naked trebles or x wings but as you go through the series it increases steadily in difficulty so your are able to judge your improvement. By the beginning of book 2 more advanced techniques are needed like xy and xyz wings and then book 3 introduces swordfish and forcing chains etc. Having solved all the puzzles in books 1 to 3 I am now on book 4 and so far haven't been able to solve any so it looks like it's back to the drawing board. If you need help rather than looking at the answer I would highly recommend "Pauls Pages" sudoku website which will give you clues and so help you to work out the answers for yourself.I should add that the quality of the paper is excellent so there is no problem using a rubber as there is with some books with flimsy paper. I also find having a spiral binder a great help as the page not being used can be folded back completely out of the way.

Not absolutely nasty, but needs concentration
The comments on the rear cover over estimate the the difficulty, which makes selecting a new set of puzzles more difficult when there is no way to try any out before buying. However, that aside, this level 3 book is certainly not impossible for me, but I do have to concentrate hard. The most useful comment I can make to help others is that for me, at least, it sits between "The Times, Super fiendish" and " The Telegraph Diabolical"Additionally, the squares are big enough for options to be clearly noted. Ring binding makes working in it easy. A well thought out presenation

Beyond Super Fiendish
Level two was too easy for me so I am using it as a teaching tool for my pal. ( I already use strategies such as doubles, triples, quads x-wings swordfish and am just getting quite good with xy wings, xyz wings, unique rectangles and some strings) So level three has been great for honing these skills and making them more obvious. I am more than half way through and enjoying the puzzles though somewhat easy they are good for a wind down. If you are not familiar with the above strategies you need books one or two.

Genuinely difficult suduko!
My husband seems to flash through the 'fiendish sudoku' but two hours in and he hadn't completely finished one of these little nasties! Perfect if you like to make your brain really work - or to keep your husband quiet for some time!

Finished It!
Love it, love it, love it. It was so challenging, and as I finished it last night I suppose I shall just have to read a book tonight - bedtime will not be the same - Gotta get another.
