Columbia Men's Ascender Hooded Softshell Jacket

My whole life id always buy big all weather winter coats for them to just sit in the closet, even on the coldest day it was still too big to sit in a car with, so id rock a hoody and suffer, not this. this turns your hoodie into the coat filling. Not too bulky, not to warm to sit in a car with, blocks the wind, highly recommend! Perfect for these unseasonably warmer days we been having in the mountains!

Great jacket for fall and even into winter. I live in the Seattle area and so needed a new waterproof jacket with a hood for the fall. I was surprised how hard it is to find a waterproof softshell jacket with a hood. There are tons without hoods, but very few with hoods. Well, I want my head to stay dry, too, so after some searching I bought this. This is the first Columbia jacket I've bought, because I always thought they were overpriced. Well, I got a good price on this jacket, but honestly, I would've paid a lot more for it. It was exactly what I needed and then some. Shortly after I bought it, we got hit with a cold front that dropped overnight temperatures below 20 degrees. Standing outside waiting for the bus in 20 degree windy weather, this jacket was perfect with just a sweatshirt underneath. I won't even need to wear my bulky winter jacket this winter, now that I have this.The only thing I don't like about it is how big the hood is. Because it's so big and kind of stiff, it tends to not move with your head when you turn your head, so you find yourself looking at the inside of the hood. I believe a velcro latch at the bottom of the hood would fix this problem, so I may try attaching one to it myself.

The material is a bit different from analogues such as TSLA or Camel Crawn: Better breathability and softer. It may be possible to pass water, but I did not check.

I like everything about the jacket except sleeves are very lose

I'm 5'9 155 and I got the small, it fits pretty perfect, slim but the sleeves aren't too short. I really like this jacket, it's soft on the inside including the sleeves. Looks nice too, seems perfect for cooler spring weather or for when you are inside a place with the air turned down too low.

Bought this for my boyfriend because he grew up in Colorado and therefore doesnt own a real jacket (yeah there are a lot here with that mind set). He loves it and went from wearing a hoodie everyday to this jacket. The hood is bigger than he would like for his head but otherthan that he is very happy. I read the reviews for the jacket size and went up one size. Thanks for all the guys who put measurements in their reviews!

This is a really cute jacket however it is not true to size. It was purchased for my 17 year old son and it was just to small
