I think its one of Cussler's best!
I think its one of Cussler's best and one of my favorites of any books I have read. When I read this one I was a fan for good. This book is one of those I didn't want to put it down.

Clive Cussler is an amazing read. Have a whole shelf of his books
Clive Cussler is an amazing read. Have a whole shelf of his books. The movie "Sahara" with Matthew McConaughey was based on his book. The "Oregon Files" are my personal favorite, but I started off reading the "Dirk Pitt" series. While the books do have a chonological order, they are also standalone, if that makes any sense. It doesn't matter if you start off on book one or book thirteen, you will understand what is going on as there are several references to past events, fueds, inside jokes, etc. Clive Cussler has a brobdingnagian vocabulary, and a certain flair of how be writes his stories. Hard to put his books down once you start reading.

Very long story, a lot of boring stuff, good plot bordering on disbelief, but enough action to keep me reading!
About the story, it's very good, easy reading (except measurement parentheses), some surprises, and good characters even the bad ones. Clive's cameo appearances in these stories add some humor, but hardly necessary. However, it shouldn't take over 600 pages to tell a fiction story. At my age, I may not have enough time to finish the next ten Dirk Pitt stories on my bookshelf. In a previous book the author said the U. S. had adopted to the metric system and he used that throughout that book. He did the same with Inca Gold, but also included the U. S. measurements in brackets - disrupting the reading flow. I kept checking the conversion. Why not just use the American measurements; let others convert it to metric. What's next? Modifying our "living" Constitution and dialing 2 for English! I should apologize for the political commentary - not!Norm

Amazing! A must read
Ok I haven’t even finished the book yet and I had to write a review. Amazing! A must read. It’s my first day, page 200, and 11:15 at night and I can’t put it down. Very suspenseful, and reads like a movie. Usually I like fantasy books, but this action adventure is awesome. Highly recommend you fall into Pitt’s life and have a good treasure hunt. The opening scenes are filled with diving in caves, and trying to survive ancient cities. Nice twist and turns. Can’t wait to finish it!

Full On All The Way
Story was phased, well embellished scenarios, plot navigable and there was plenty to read with a satisfying outcome to boot.

Cussler does it again (and again...)
Yet another classic. How CC does it I don't know - but I'm glad he does. Now for the next book...
