The Last Sherlock Holmes Story

I have been Holmes/Watson enthusiast for many decades The book shows Holmes at his worst. Brilliant as always, but also deeply misogynistic, prone to bouts of depression, psychotic, murderous, and suicidal. Watson is not much better. He suspects his friend of the worst crimes imaginable (rightly as it turns out), contemplates turning him over to the authorities and maneuvers Holmes into a situation which leads to Holmes suicide.

I did not like this book! I object to Sherlock being cast as a murderous Moriarty! He would have killed himself first! The Holmes of our hearts is sometimes misguided in his ability to understand the emotional side of human existence, but he is always loyal, truthful, and sometimes brutal. Not in a physical way, but with his words and deductive abilities to shred the criminal and average human down to the elemental basics for all to see. I am so disappointed. Holmes would NEVER! If this is the notoriety you seek, we have all done an injustice to Sherlock Holmes by reading this book!

Utter garbage. I couldn't be more disgusted with a Holmes story. I'm bewildered by some authors' need to befoul Holmes and the canon. I wasted two hours of my life attempting to read this drivel until I finally tossed it unfinished into the recycle bin. If you're a Holmes and Watson fan avoid this book like the plague. If you get off bringing the high way down low then by all means, read it twice.

If you're looking for a generic detective story, I guess this is fine. If you actually like Sherlock Holmes, don't torture yourself. The foreign characteristics applied to these familiar names (Watson and Holmes) is frustrating and the overall effect is disappointing.

This book is an well-written obscenity. If one were able to give a book a negative five star rating, this one would deserve it. If you love the character of Sherlock Holmes, with all his strengths and flaws, this book will leave you traumatized and enraged. Fair warning.
