THIS IS NOT A HIGH POWER 40X MONOSCOPE
False misleading advertising on Amazon website. This monoscope is not high power 40X. It has a fixed 10X or at the most 12X power. It is not a zoom monoscope. There is a focus adjusting ring near the eyepiece that moves the eyepiece lens backward and forward. There is a round focus adjusting knob on the side of the monoscope body that moves the objective lens backward and forward. So by using both the focus adjusting ring and the focus adjusting knob, all you can do is finely adjust the focus. You cannot increase the magnifying power. This monoscope has no more magnifying power than a standard pair of binoculars. I already have a monoscope that I purchased from Amazon a few years ago with 12X power from a different company. I was interested in purchasing a more powerful monoscope that was similar to a spotting scope. A lot of spotting scopes have powers that zoom from 20X to 60X. This particular monoscope model advertises that it has 40X power. No it doesn't. After testing it, I discovered that it doesn't make objects at a given distance appear any closer than my old 12X monocular. There were a few attachments that came with this monoscope. A tiny lightweight aluminum adjustable tripod with flimsy telescoping legs. The monoscope has a threaded brass hole on the bottom to allow mounting to a tripod. There is also a special eyepiece cover and a smartphone holder that attaches to it, that allows the camera of your smartphone to take pictures or videos through the monoscope.Bottom Line: Although this monoscope does not have the extra power I was looking for, the image quality seems to be equal to my old monoscope. I also like the threaded tripod attachment hole it has on the bottom, which my old monoscope does not have, and the smartphone attachment accessory. So, I think I will keep this monoscope and get rid of my old one.
