My Bible
Thomas Merton: “Ultimately, faith is the only key to the universe. The final meaning of human existence, and the answers to questions on which all our happiness depends, cannot be reached in any other way.”Thich Nhat Hanh: “Happiness means feeling you are on the right path every moment. You don’t need to arrive at the end of the path in order to be happy. The right path refers to the very concrete ways you live your life in every moment.”This book is like a shop manual for a life of faith/happiness and also fits hand-in-glove with my spiritual father Thomas Keating’s Centering Prayer. Thank you Anamchara and may God bless Ellyn Sanna.

Excellent reading acknowledging that the technique of "zen" can be applied to any religious tradition. His example of focusing himself on the Presence of God is truly inspiring. Then comparing the similarities of Zen Buddhism and Christianity and how one can shine light on the other. Extremely powerful book of both mindfulness and meditation and the life transformations that are possible. I would highly recommend this book.

A must read
I love brother Lawrence his simplicity and humility. God is not approached with ritual but a contrite heart and honesty. I found no conflict with zen thought and my Christian beliefs. This can be a quick read or a lifetime to absorb. Many Christians desire to go deeper in faith and an experience of god in their daily lives this book is a treasure. I highly recommend.

Verrry interesting!
The Practice of the Presence of God is my favorite spiritual reading, and I was intrigued by this title. I am intrigued and delighted by its contents! It is a collection of quotations from Brother Lawrence paired with quotations from Zen Masters. Great food for thought and a gentle reminder that God and His Wisdom are never limited by denominational boundaries.

root energy of christian life
this is a wise collections of thoughts about being in the present with ones true self as you are connected to the one who is and loves that self and all true selves even now. it brings out a great seminal truth that is often forgotten in christian practice: god is "the great i am" ,(now) ,and "god is love." i find christian brother lawerence and the buddhist zen masters in this simple masterpiece pointing me to this " now" and to this "love". this practice is the theological energy and root of brother lawerence, a cistersian christian monk , whose way finds connection with the zen buddhist masters. they all share a love for the presence, the now, and what is there must be acknowledged as there and not clung to as a possession... and love is always there too, to sustain and nourish. this seems to be the connecting root , the common life of this christian with other seekers of the truth and goodness. they share the eternal now. this is a wonderful book of christian-zen / zen-christian insights that belong side by side.
