2009 solo album from the leader of Irish boyband Boyzone and successful artist in his own right. Over the space of two days before Christmas 2008, Ronan Keating went into British Grove studios with his band and a live orchestra to record a special solo album entitled Songs for My Mother in memory of his late mother Marie Keating and to also celebrate Mother's Day. Songs for My Mother is a beautiful and evocative collection of songs that Ronan remembers his mum listening to throughout his childhood. All of the songs on the album were carefully selected by Ronan and so have a special place in his heart. Along with traditional Folk songs such as 'Wild Mountain Thyme' and 'Carrick Fergus', the album includes tracks by revered musicians such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Elvis as well as Ronan's version of Joshua Kadison's song 'Mama's Arms', a song that helped Ronan through his grieving for his mother Marie. This is the first album I have from Ronan Keating. I learned about him thru Amazon, and purchased this CD after I listened to the samples. I am glad I did. This talented artist is so easy to listen to . . . and since I bought this for my Mom - who loved it, by the way - she is also loaning it to me because I listened to Ronan's music and totally enjoyed it! Would recommend this listening venue to any and everyone who enjoys a fresh sound.

Right From the Heart
I just loved this albumn and the choice of songs. They reflected my journey with my sons, too. In a sense they were healing songs which helped to look at the mother-son relationship in a fresh perspective. I gave it to one of my sons who enjoyed the songs on it, also.

Ronan's voice is wonderful, however
Ronan's voice is wonderful, however, this CD is not exactly what I expected. This Is Your Song is the best song for me and Vincent, Carrickfergus, Mama's Arms & The Wild Mountain Thyme are also very fresh, heart touching songs remembering a loved one. I found just as many memorable songs on Boyzone's Brother CD. Songs For My Mother was certainly worth the price here on Amazon! No regrets buying it.

Ronan Keating is a very nice singer.
This is the first time I've ever heard Ronan Keating and he has a very nice voice. He somewhat reminded me of the WESTLIFE tones of their voice. His SONGS are quite pleasant. I really like them....

I dont get why he never got big in the states. He is an amazing singer and songwriter Boyzone wasjust a steppingstone Ronan come to Nashville. This is where you will find your people.
