I purchased this book after seeing at Amazon for my daughter who wishes to take up learning to do on Screen Makeup, this is what she had to say after getting it as a gift for Christmas and could not put it down the moment it was in her hand.As a 16 year old aspiring to be a make-up artist, I found that the book gave me a brilliant insight into the world of makeup from the T.V./ Film/ Theatrical side. I would recommend the book for people who want to teach themselves and learn from hands on experience this book gives you, a must for any budding make up artist, with step by step instructions, illustrations and this book also advertises other books related to it and products used.This is a review after reading every page and only being half way through.

I treated myself to this book for Xmas based on the comments from the other reviewers and I've not been disappointed. I must agree with all the reviewers so far, this is a superb 5 star reference for professionals and hobbyists alike. I've only skimmed its contents so far but even casual glances has revealed little gems e.g. how to simulate a nose bleed. Looking forward to really reading this book in detail.Can't recommend this book enough.

I am not a special effects artist, however I am a make up artist. This book is a fantastic resource of information concerning this specialised area.With a view to the future, I bought this book to read up on technique and have picked up a serious amount of information that will help me now as I work on smaller scale films and shoots.Well worth the money excellent for working artists and students alike.

Was recomended on a course I took at Hybrid FX in the UK and did not dissapoint.

This is a very good book for special effects artists which covers from anatomy to casting, working with foam latex, gelatin and so on. The only thing is that the products they use are top of the range (probably they sponsered the book?) and you can get the same result with cheaper alternatives.The tips given and SFX products used are def for someone who has a big budget and working on blockbuster films! I thought they would cover casualities (scars, bruises, etc) a bit more, therefore the reason I'm only giving 4 starts, but this is a must have for any SFX artist!

To be short and sweet, this book is exactly what i wanted from it. Its got a wide range of techniques illustrated with good photos. Very easy to understand, it makes self teaching easy!!

Provides clear instructions on any process needed with clear sections on casting/moulding different body parts, as well as the theory of it all explained. Can literally learn majority of the trade from this book with all its helpfull tips. Perfect for anyone wanting to learn new methods and skills.Even explains in detail about the different materials and methods available with a huge list of suppliers contained in the back.Seen me through uni!
