Re-usable P100 Elipse Half Mask Respirator has a patented design that is very different from anything on the market, but users like the respirators because of its low profile design, breathability and comfort. Designed to fit the contours of the face and comes in two sizes (S/M and M/L). Mask is NIOSH 42 CFR 84 P100 approved and meets other worldwide standards. Low profile design will allow users to have a wide field of view, will not interfere with other PPE such as safety glasses, sanding shields, welding hoods and prevents filters from getting bumped or snagged while doing overhead work. Protects against dust and fumes containing such substances such as: micro-organisms, marble, gypsum, titanium oxide, soapstone, rock wool. wood, detergents, textile fibers, spices, salts, feed, coal, silica, asbestos, mold, bauxite, zinc, iron ore, iron, graphite, kaolin, zinc, manganese, lead, chromium and more. Elipse respirator is a re-usable half mask and intuitive design allows the filters to easily be interchanged. Mask comes ready to use with two P100 filters.

Relief from Wildfires, Very Comfy!
I live in Oregon and we have had a terrible fire season this year as have the surrounding states. For the last few days our Air Quality Index has been 300+ with spikes up to 479. I have asthma and for me this is a very dangerous situation. This Elipse mask is such a relief. The paper ones don't work at all and the disposable N95 ones help some. I had been using a full size 3M organic vapor respirator which works very well but compared to this is large, cumbersome and can be uncomfortable for long periods of wear because of how tight the straps have to be. Today I got my Elipse mask and was thrilled to find large soft straps that you can easily pull down to your neck when temporarily removing it as opposed to taking off my glasses and pulling the plastic headpiece of the respirator forwards. The area of your face covered in just enough without putting pressure on my big nose or prominent chin. Because it is a only particulate respirator you can still smell some things in your environment like the moisture of a recent storm or a spilled fuel which is a good thing in my book. Worth every penny!

Have a beard? Give this one a go
Having tried some of 3M's offerings, I found myself rarely wearing it.I do a lot of woodworking and am more concerned than many when it comes to controlling what I'm inhaling. The medical literature is a bit murky, but there's enough validity that I would rather be safe than stuffy or worse. What the Elipse mask corrects is that it uses thick elastic bands that pulls it toward your face and a more pliable plastic for the mouthpiece. The other masks on the market largely sit on top of your head and use rigid plastic. That design greatly limits face shapes that it can conform to and still create an air tight seal around your face. Otherwise, dust leaks in and/or you have it so tight that it starts digging into your face, or most annoyingly you start fogging up your safety glasses. The Elipse is comfortable. And I can detect no signs of dust leaking in.I started by saying that if you have a beard, this is probably the mask for you. That's true, but, I could just have easily asked: "Have a face?" This mask is for you.

Kind of like insurance, something you hope you never need but if you do you'll be super happy you have!
I had to learn a lot about smoke, lung health, and particle masks this past week, as the NorCal fires were raging away about 30 miles from my house and it was raining ash on my porch.Even if you think you're some sort of super-lung BAMF, don't have chest pain, asthma, or lung issues, and aren't super noticing the smoke/dust, it's harming you. If air quality is bad in your area, you are doing yourself a serious disservice by not protecting yourself. On very bad days, poor air quality feels like a heaviness and difficulty breathing, but even on mild days of bad air it is exhausting and headache-inducing to breathe in tons of particulates. The cloth ones at the hardware store are fine in a pinch, but they're hot and hard to breathe in. If you're going to be wearing a particle mask all day/night because you're in a post-apocalyptic wasteland (or 30 miles away from a massive forest fire) something more serious is significantly more effective and comfortable. My GVS P100 mask arrived a few days ago and I'm SUPER happy with it. Even on hot but smokey days, the seal is good, not too sweaty, and it's easy to clean. I wish had had this when the smoke was REALLY bad last week, and now that I have it I plan to keep it in my car in case of emergencies in the future. Even wearing this on moderate smoke days has been helping me breathe again and I can feel my lungs starting to heal from all the smoke. A serious particle mask is kind of like insurance: you don't ever want to be in a situation where you need to use it, but if you are in that situation it's usually an emergency and you'll be super grateful that you thought ahead.

Low profile, light weight dust mask. Looks cool too!
What a great looking dust mask! While cobalt blue would be a nice option in place of the purple, the purple looks really nice. I am an average size man with an average size face. I wear glasses, and this does not interfere with them. Also, unlike a few other reviewers, I have not really had trouble with fogging of my glasses. I had fog 1 time when I was working at an odd angle, but other than that I have been fog free for well over 10 hours of use. This mask is quite light weight. When wearing it, it does not feel like it's hanging off your face. It feels like it's part of your face. The double strap makes the mask secure but not too tight. I really like how small it is. A lot of the respirators I see look like they were styled after a WWII gas mask, big and bulky with canisters hanging off both sides. This one is compact, and low profile.I also have a beard, and read that some people have problems getting this to seal around their beard. I keep my beard pretty short, but it's a full beard, and if I cover the exhaust vent, there is pressure when I breathe out. It does leak, a little, but I have not had issue with dust getting in. I do smell wood when I'm cutting so the filters that come with it are not meant to be used as a gas mask, only a particle filter. There are some things that are not ideal. I have little experience with respirators, but I still have opinions, so here they are:1. The bridge of my nose gets a little uncomfortable after a half hour or so. I find that moving it down my nose helps a bit.2. The flap the lets air out makes a little flappy sound when you exhale... I know this is nit picky, but it's a little annoying. I would assume that most respirators with a flap do the same.3. It gets pretty warm on a hot day. Again, I'm guessing that any respirator out there will do the same thing.I have not yet decided if I will buy another when this one wears out... But that may be a while, so in the mean time, I recommend trying this mask.I deducted a star mostly because of the nose junction being uncomfortable for me. The other 2 negatives are just to make you aware of my negative thoughts on this product.
