Not a Softener! Yes It Does Work- Give It Some Time!
Ok I waited 4 months to review, because it does not work instantly. Toilet bowls are no longer staining (no more scrubbing with a stone), faucets are not dripping and best of all finally last week my hot water finally got to full temp and the pressure returned way above what it ever had been, so I think it finally dispersed most or all the junk that had built up inside the tank - could not drain it before because drain was clogged, now the drain actually works with good flow! So yes it does take time to really work, No it is not a water "softener" - so don't expect the results of a salt treatment unit. It de-scales the water. Sad to read how many people buy this and have no clue how it works or what to expect of it then bash it.

It really does work!
This has worked better than I expected. I wanted to use this over a water softening solution as those add a bit of salt to your supply and they don't conserve water as the unit needs to periodically flush.Hard water stains in my most frequently used toilet have disappeared, I no longer am getting crust on the shower heads, and my pots that I boil water in no long scale up at all. Admittedly, I was skeptical and thought that some of the effects were just perceptions, like a placebo and I had read that it was "controversial"(probably by a water softener provider). After a couple months of usage, I do notice a verifiable difference in the mineral deposits.

Not working. And this Clearwave company tries to steal from you.
With all reviews, etc., keep in mind that there is no scientific evidence that water AC magnetization does anything to scale and calcium deposits. Made my own research with this device - and of course, there is no change in water hardness or in these stubborn white spots hard water leaves on everything. Returned, but company was trying to extort 50% as "restocking fee" - on product on Prime!v Item Refund: $146.79 Item Tax Refund: $12.77 Restocking Fee Refund Deduction: ($73.40)Good there is Amazon customer service stopping these tricksters. Bad this product is aloud for sale.

Works pretty well
I've had this device for about a year, and while I'm not blown away by its functionality, it has seemed to make a small difference. (It's not equivalent to a water softener, for example.) I've noticed that hard water scale, while still present, doesn't seem as abundant, and it doesn't last as long. For example, before using this unit, my water mug would get mineral scale inside quickly and it would quickly grow over time. When drinking water run through this unit, though, the scale doesn't build up, and in fact, slowly disappears over time. I wouldn't expect miracles with this thing; it's not going to dissolve years of built-up mineral crud in your pipes overnight (or maybe ever), but I do think it will prevent further build-up and may actually slowly dissolve old mineral built-up over time.

I installed this on Dec 24, which is just ...
I installed this on Dec 24, which is just 3 weeks ago. Water here is considered "moderately hard" with between 75 and 125 ppm of hardness I saw results almost immediately:1. I have a Lasko humidifier which I run in the winter. It was so caked with calcium that it was unsightly, and water flow was severely diminished. You can tell because there is a window water flows over so that you can see it working. Within a week, the water was running at full stream, my humidifier has actually cleaned itself over the last 3 weeks.2. I had a buildup of calcium on the shower doors. I have scrubbed regularly with lime away and other chemicals, but really did not make a dent in it. Last week I scraped the buildup with my finger nail, and it came off. I grabbed a razor scraper and within 2 minutes had removed all of the calcium on the shower door. It does remove or soften existing deposits3. A week after installing it, my wife washed the dogs bed (which she does every month). The soap did not rinse out. Two more rinses needed to remove the soap. She has started using less.4. 4 weeks after purchase now. I was emptying out tea kettle, saw some "stuff" coming out. It was the scale buildup coming loose. 15 seconds with a Scotchbrite pad, and the tea kettle is like brand new.I have to say, it does what it claims. Highly recommended.Update - 1 year later.I run a Lasko humidifier in the winter. It has always been caked with Calcium, and sometimes got so bad it restricted the water flow. At the end of last season, I completely disassembled and cleaned it and replaced all the plastic tubing - it looked like brand new. It has been running now for a couple of months, and there is NO Calcium buildup. This is definitely working for me!

Yes-- It's a Ripoff
Purchased from Amazon January 15, 2018. As of today (October 17, 2018), still no difference in the hardness of my water. Still scale all over the faucets, sinks, and shower tiles. Still suffer from dry, itchy skin. I cannot recommend this product for what it is purported to do. It is certainly not worth its ridiculous price tag. Installation is pretty easy-- I'll say that about the product. You can buy a large, rare earth magnet and strap it to the main of your water supply (or a bagel, for that matter). And, it will do you about as much good. It's too bad I can't give the product zero stars-- because, I would.

Simply Does Not Work
After having this unit professionally installed, I began to notice water spots on glassware and splash masks on the taps. I had the water tested and it was confirmed that the hardness of the water had not changed. I contacted Customer Service for the product and was told by their technician that ‘if your water is too hard the unit will not work’. The professional installer commented that simply wrapping some wires around the exterior of pipes would have zero affect on softening water. This is the total installation, wrap the wires around the pipes then plug the unit in. Then why would you by the unit? The description for this product doesn’t state that. Further, their return policy is beyond ridiculous, if the unit is returned, they can charge a huge restocking fee.
