Giant Print Handy-Size Reference Bible: NASB 1977 Edition (AMG Giant Print Handy-Size Bibles)

Little Bit of King James
It's important to remember this is the first version of the complete NASB from 1977. It retains King James English ONLY when referring to God, so it's not so overwhelming with old English. In fact for me, it adds a little majesty to the text. It's, For THINE is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever, at the end of the Lord's prayer, which is actually left out of most modern Bibles, including the 2020 version of the same NASB Bible. The same publisher AMG has the 1977 NASB in a Hebrew Greek Study Bible, which is a worthy study Bible, even though the text has many numerical references to dictionaries, so the text is broken up a little bit. This is a solid Bible, not much bleed through, red letter, giant print, handy size, pretty thick, no commentary, a solid Bible, if you like old English references to God...which I do.

The 1977 NASB is One of the Most Literal Bible Translations Available and This is a Solid Edition
The original 1977 NASB ranks as one of the most literal Bible translation available. The more common 1995 revision of the NASB actually made the translation slightly less literal (though the 1995 NASB is still very good). Some may find the NASB's approach a bit wooden (the ESV for instance manages to be literal and literary at the same time), but it's still an excellent translation that tracks almost word for word with the Greek and Hebrew texts. It's a bit of a misnomer to call this Bible "giant print" when the font is only 11 points. If you want truly "giant print" I'd suggest the Super Giant Print ESV which has 17 point font. However, 11 point font makes for a comfortable read and is at least slightly larger than your average Bible font. My only complaint is the the text is not line-matched.

Excellent Version
This is an older translation and there aren’t any missing all scriptures. Some of the newer bibles are leaving out verses and this one doesn’t.

Wish font was larger
This is a really nice Bible. Too bad the font is not larger so people with failing eyesight could comfortably read it. I wanted this Bible because I heard rumors now the 2020 editions are being released they may discontinue the 77 edition. Thought it would be cool to own this Bible if it's discontinued. So I'm keeping it for that reason. But it will just be a trophy Bible on the shelf since it's print is too small for me to read

A Great Version - But Improvements Would Be Nice!
If you are looking for a new NASB 1977 version - this is your best (if not only) option at the moment. I for one have searched new and used for the 1977 version of the NASB and it has become increasingly difficult to find. I really appreciate the fact that AMG brought this version back into publication and appreciate the relatively cheap price. I was very pleased with the font size - very readable for those of us in our 50's that are tired of reading fine print! The verse layout is what I prefer - no center column but references are included after each verse. Each verse also starts on a new line (with a verse number) so it's easy to locate a particular verse. The page headings include book chapter:verse headings as well as the topic headings which is handy for quick perusing.Still, as much as I wanted to love this Bible I can't get over a few issues. First, the book is thick - too thick for a petite person to want to carry. I bought one for my wife and she passed and I ended up giving it to my son - and it's big for him... Second, the topic headings are larger than the chapter references and to me seem more distracting than useful - often taking two large lines and helping to make the whole bible a bit thicker... I could do without the headings altogether but at least they could have been made smaller so they don't seem to dominate a page. Third, each book includes a short introduction. Perhaps these are useful to some but I'd again rather save the space and found a few that were not to my liking. Not sure why AMG would waste the space on adding these when the customer base (someone who really cares about the 1977 version) probably doesn't need an Introduction to a bible book. Fourth, I don't know much about bindings but this one seems stiff and I wonder if it will hold up. It may be fine but it just didn't have the feel of a good binding. So I use mine and I'm glad to have it! For the price I can't complain and having the version I prefer is great! Still, I'd buy another one at twice the cost if it addressed the issues above.

Great price for a 1977 edition NASB
I've had Bible where the print is very light and hard to read on some pages but this one is dark print and easy to read. It's not extremely large print but it isn't small either. I think it's a great buy for the cost and would recommend it.The outside is a soft black "bonded leather". The best part is that the New American Standard Bible is a 1977 edition that had been hard to find in the last few years. It has the standard red letters of Jesus, a concordance in the back, and a little write-up before each book.

NASB 1977
It’s a solid all rounder with colour maps and book introductions. It’s clean and simple and the text is easy to read. Unfortunately the bonded leather is too stiff to open flat at Genesis or at the maps - I would have preferred something softer or fake leather.

This Bible is everything for me
After touching this Bible, reading and studying, I have realized that this is the best New American Standard Bible for me. Along with KJV, NASB is my most favourite translation. This Bible is everything for me and now I know that without NASB, without this Bible this world is nothing. Thank you Amazon for providing me this precious Bible.

Really pleased by this bible
Really pleased by this bible. It's thick (about 1.75 inches) but small enough to feel like a personal sized bible and comfortable to hold. The print size is fantastic. It's large enough to be very comfortable reading without eye strain but not as huge as "giant" might suggest. Just a nice clear large sized font. Price can't be beat...great deal. Bonded leather feels pretty much like any other bonded leather. For lovers of the 1977 NASB, this is perfect.
