Junk Of The Dangerous Kind
Terminal blocks function by gripping on to a wire with enough force to hold the wire securely in place. This requires the screw to bite down with a fair amount of pressure and the block itself to be able to stand this force. This product fails in both these requirements.First, the screws are threaded in such a way that the screw must be inserted a great deal into the block before the threads will even start to bite. This means that the available space for a wire is drastically reduced. Second, the screws and the threaded hole in the block strip easily preventing you from putting any pressure on the wire. Third, if you manage to not have the screw strip on you, the thin and brittle construction of the block will cause it to split in half the moment you begin to approach enough pressure to keep the wire from falling out.Not only is this product absolute junk, it is dangerous since there is no way to know how secure your wiring will be.

DANGER!! This terminal block is terrible quality to the point of being useless and even dangerous
I bought these to connect some wires in a junction block but after tightening the screws. the wires kept falling out of the terminal strip. I would re-insert thinking I had missed the wire and same occurrence. Only once I completely removed the strip and examined it closely, I found that the barrels inside the terminal strip were made of thin metal which just fell apart with any pressure. This could have caused a fire if the wires had come out of the terminals and arced. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

This is just a terrible product, believe the reviews!
I could not believe the negative reviews when I read them. I though this is a proven sound design, so I proceeded to buy the 3A version. I am sorry I bought it, and I am sorry I am trying to work with it. First off, the other negative reviews are true, they will break if you tighten them to what I consider "normal". So to avoid that you have to only "snug" them. for if you don't I have noticed two things will happen. If you go tighter than snug, the screw inside will cut a multi strand wire. I tried to avoid that by soldering the exposed wire before inserting it, but then you run into the problem that as you're tightening the screw, the rotating screw will walk the wire off to the side, so that by the time you have it snug, the wire is not even under the screw. it takes so many attempts and so many tries that this product is useless! separating the number of blocks from the strip is also futile, as you end up cutting the edge off one of the ends, leaving a completely exposed, uninsulated block. terrible cheap execution of an old proven fantastic german design.

Cheap to buy, but it is cheap
This would work great with a solid-core wire that is of 16AWG or more. Also can work great if boot-lace ferrules are applied to the wire ends. However if you want to use it with stranded wires, this is not the product you want. Perhaps it will be ok with larger gauge like 16-14, but anything smaller, the screw just eats the copper and makes a mes. While it might still work, it is not going to look pro. Also, the screws will easily fall out if loosened all the way, which is quite easy to do with these blocks.

Used in Skyjack Control box
I used these to assemble several new Skyjack Scissor Lift Control boxes. They were just a little bigger than the name brand ones i have used before, but worked just as well. Maybe I ordered a slightly bigger size than the other brand I've bought before, but the terminal size and number of terminals was the same. I installed 14 gauge stranded and 20 gauge stranded wires and the system uses 24 volts and low amperage. I would says its a little bit tight to fit a 14 gauge and 20 gauge wire into one terminal hole together but it worked. The terminals I used just 1, 14 gauge or 1, 20 gauge wire worked excellent. I tinned the ends of all wires with solder before inserting them into the terminals to achieve the best clamp when screwed down. All the screws were in place and they came packaged in a shrink wrapped bundle. I was able to tighten the screws extremely tight so as to make sure the wires would not be able to be yanked out and none of the screw heads or threads stripped out. These were a fraction of the price of the name brand ones and i see no downside to them.

Does the job, but weak and breaks easily
This has definitely been made down to a price. The brass is paper-thin, and you have to be supremely careful when you turn the grub screw to avoid ripping through the bottom of the connector. See image (sorry that my camera focused on the table, not the connector, but you can still see what happens). I'm getting a failure rate of about 25% at the moment, which is irritating but not game over. I've never had this happen before, and I've been using these things for years. So: not the best, probably better to avoid it and buy something that isn't going to disintegrate if you look at it funny, but it (mostly) works. I wouldn't buy these again, though.

Good DIY Project Component
I needed a wiring terminal block to tidy-up my DIY project,This screw down terminal block was just what I needed. I could easily cut the block to length and used some #6 flat-head screws to attach it in my project box. The larger wires I used were ~16 AWG and the smallest around 24-26 AWG; all fit and clamped down securely.

Will crack with too much force.
It seems obvious; tho I don't remeber this happening to pervious ones; but they can and will crack with too much force. That being said the cylinder part is made of a non-ferrous alloy which passes the magnet test unlike the screws but thats expected for them to be strong. Over all price to quality looks reasonably a good buy. Haven't passed any real current through them but are only rated for 5 amps so shouldn't be a problem. Get the 20amp ones if you are expecting to come close to the rated 5 amps.
