This Mirror Dash Cam is an Excellent Value and Works Great.
I, like most of you, read numerous reviews about all kinds of dash cams, but I'm really pleased with this particular one; let me explain why. This cam is installed in a Chrysler Crossfire, which has terrible blind spots due to its tiny rear hatchback window and massive c-pillars. The car's rear window is so small and narrow you are totally blind when backing out of a parking spot for a few feet, until the side windows are useful. My intent was to find a rear camera system that would enhance the rear-view mirror and be on all the time when driving, and this setup works amazingly well. For starters, I wanted a system that fills the entire mirror, not just the center portion... this one does just that. The 10 inch, full view screen is stunning. The 170 degree viewing angle is wider than you'll ever see in any rear view mirror. The mirror controls are fine... you mostly set it and forget it. So when I start up my car, the mirror cam turns on and defaults to the rear view camera and stays on the rear camera the entire time I'm driving, of course both front and rear camera are still recording all the time. This setup is like augmented reality as you can't naturally see this much stuff behind you in real life. All I did was not hook-up the reverse light wire (its neatly tucked away in case I want to hook it up) as this wire turns the rear camera view on when you shift into reverse and off when your shift out of reverse. One feature that I love is the ability to swipe the screen up or down which digitally moves the rear view image up or down in small increments... this is a brilliant feature as it allows you to see how close your bumper is to another car while parking by swiping down. Swiping up moves the image up to normal rear view driving position. The camera doesn't physically move, just the image, very nice feature. If you swipe left and right you switch between the front and rear camera. Fortunately, I have not needed to save and/or view any "shock" data recording, and I hope I'll never need to. Its nice to know I'll have 1080P digital video evidence if I ever need it. It's only been a few months since installation, so the long-term durability is unknown. Installation wasn't too bad for me as I'm used to this kind of work. It was nice that they included a small plastic pry tool, it was very helpful for tucking the wires under the cars plastic trim and headliner. I've found that the camera is quite good at adjusting for a wide range of light levels. For me, this dash cam ticked all the boxes that are important for my needs. There may be better choices if you want instant/frequent access to the recorded videos and pictures as you will need to remove the microSD card every time... not a big deal, but there are other systems out there that integrate with smart phones. Overall, I'm really pleased with this dash cam. - Steve

Didn't last, no support, some annoying features/function
Have had this camera for a while now. Overall it's decent with fine picture quality for the price. Some software configurations bothered me, but I've lived with. The real probably is it didn't last long. I believe the internal battery wore out. The internal battery is only used to save video files on shut down and to record if using the parking monitor. Also to save your settings. When I power mine down it sometimes power cycles a few times, or shuts down incorrectly. Loses all of my setting configurations, etc. Requiring me to reset up the device how I like every time I use the unit! So I only use it on long trips now as it become a annoyance and pain to bother with.Tried to contact the company directly for support a while back and never herd back. So just live with it and don't use it much anymore. 50/50 on recommending this product.

Gets the job done, but could use a few improvements
I used a separate 12v to 5v mini usb hardwire kit for a clean installation directly to the fuse box to keep the 12v cigarette port free. The front camera video quality is great, but the video quality on the rear is noticeably worse which is disappointing since I am using this to replace my rear view mirror. I can still turn the screen off and use it as a regular rear view mirror, but wish the front and back cameras had consistent viewing quality. I was originally worried I received the 720p version of the rear camera, but checked the file info for the rear videos and confirmed it was 1080p so I received the correct model. Oh and objects in the rear view mirror (when viewing live video feed from rear camera) are MUCH closer than they appear. Also, the impact detection sensitivity is very sensitive (even on the lowest setting) and constantly records locked video while driving normally, so I had to turn that feature off to avoid annoying pop ups while driving. The "screen on/camera view off" or "stand by" screen (when pressing the power button once) has this intrusive animation of a car that obstructs your view, but I contacted the seller for an updated firmware to remove it after reading another review where the seller was able to resolve that. For anyone reading this who plans on doing the same, the file the seller sent me was named "SD_CarDV(1).bin", in which the (1) means it is a copy of the original. I saw another review where the customer bricked their unit after attempting to install the firmware update, but I successfully updated it after removing the (1) from the file name by renaming the file to just "SD_CarDV.bin"I'm not sure if the (1) being in the file name is why the other customer had problems, but I just removed it to be safe.Other than what I mentioned, I am still satisfied with the product since it works reliably and is a very clean unobtrusive looking install and extremely easy to use. Seller appears to care about customer satisfaction which is reassuring. Despite my above criticisms, it gets the job done and is priced fairly so I rate it 4 stars.
