Removes a wide range of contaminates with a single system! The sediment and radial-flow carbon filter are capable of removing sediment, chlorine, chloramines, pesticides, herbicides, organics, MTBE, and THM. Then, the activated alumina blen filter removes fluoride & arsenic from your water. It also removes most other chemicals, tastes and odors, and is an excellent system for general home water filtration. The three canister system provides cleaner, safer water without electricity or waste water. These 20" high flow "Big Blue" filters (larger 4.5" diameter) provide even more surface area and fewer flow restrictions than standard sized filters (2.5" diamter) or 10" Big Blue systems, allowing for even higher service flow rates. Note, you will see some slight pressure drop, if your incoming pressure is borderline, you may see up to 10 psi drop. Filtration stages: Stage 1 - polypropylene sediment filter high flow holding capacity down to 5 micron inner) Stage 2 - Activated alumina bone char blend filter to remove fluoride & arsenic Stage 3 - Radial Flow Carbon Filter Typical filter life is 6-12 months and spent filters can be safely disposed of in normal household waste. We provide detailed installation instructions that allow most homeowners to assemble and install this system themselves. All it takes is some basic plumbing skills and some common knowledge! If you don't feel confident installing it yourself most plumbers can install it in about 1-2 hours. Complete system includes 1" NPT inlet/outlet filter housings with pressure relief valves, white powder coated steel mounting bracket with lag bolts, filters, 1" hex nipples, filter housing wrench, and instructions.

My old heater was destroyed in part by my terrible water quality
I've had this installed for about a month. I bought it for use with a brand new Rinnai hot water heater. My old heater was destroyed in part by my terrible water quality, so hopefully this will help with that issue. The good: the containers are heavy duty, as are the lids and the metal mounting bracket. I have no fear this thing is going to burst open and flood my basement. Fears of it falling off the wall? See the bad. Overall I have been very pleased. My water is super soft now, doesn't smell anymore and doesn't have sediment. My clothes are softer, my hair and skin are softer. My dishes get cleaner. I'm planning on getting another unit next year for my cold water system in the house. The bad #1: The metal mounting bracket is heavy and very nice - it is fully capable of supporting the weight of the filters. But!! It comes with two wimpy little mounting holes!! It also comes with no mounting hardware. When this thing is fully assembled with the filters AND full of water it is DAMN heavy. I ended up making my own mounting system using a steel plate I had sitting around. Using that steel plate I mounted it very securely to two wall studs and then attached the included mounting bracket to that plate. Still not totally convinced I shoved a 2x4 under the center stack at an angle. The bad #2: My exit side has a small drip, and I mean small. I tried three different fittings, two brass and one plastic. I tried Teflon tape, pipe dope, combinations of both. I still get a drip. And let me emphasize it is a very small drip and only when the water is running. So maybe a rain drop sized drop every 5-10 seconds. My only conclusion is that the threads are borked in some way. Not a huge deal, this thing is in my basement and I just shoved a plastic tub under it. In over about 1 month of use I accumulated maybe 1/2" of water in the tub. For some people this might not be acceptable but it was for me.You can see my unit in the picture, the Rinnai isn't totally plumbed yet in the photo but like say I've had this "done" for about a month and very happy.

Not the greatest for whole house use.
The installation went fine, though the instructions are highly lacking in detail. Use Teflon based plumbers sealant, NOT tape, to prevent drips. The housings are actually made for o-ring seals rather than NPT threads. Once installed and leak free, the real issues started. This is advertised as a whole house filter that will eliminate fluoride. That was our main reason for purchasing this. If you install the activated alumina/bone char filter, your flow drops to a trickle. I thought that I had installed the filter wrong, so tried a couple of times. The 5u and carbon filters worked perfectly, but the alumina made the water flow unusable for a whole house supply. I understand the need for contact time, but I still have to take showers. In the end, we compromised and added a 2nd carbon filter for even more chlorine reduction and filter longevity, and purchased a counter top filter for fluoride elimination.

Looks like a good system but damaged
One filter cartridge broken open. Was inside case. Probably not damaged in transit although carton was pretty beat up

Our water smells and taste better than bottled water no type of sediment at all and no chemical smells.
Our water smells and taste better than bottled water no type of sediment at all and no chemical smells. Installed myself with fairly easily after doing a couple of google searches on it. Made our city water taste and smell much better, it has solved the problem of having to clean out the faucet screens as well as eliminating toilet rings. Whenever the city turns the water off to repair a water line the water is dirty for about a day or two afterwords which would clog the faucet screens these filter have solved that problem. I have had these filters for over a year now and it looks like I am finally going to have to replace the filter elements. This was a great investment for our family. Not a big upfront cost and it looks like a replacement set of filter elements are going to cost around $160 that's only $0.44 a day for whole house water filtration to include our outside faucets that we water our dogs, goats and chickens with. That's right even our animals get filtered water.
