It really is an adapter to turn a TV/Monitor into a clock display.
It sets up just like the stand alone clocks, and works just fine. Absolutely no instructions. Does not have any screen saving function, the clock display stays in the same place so burn in could be a problem.

Died after about 10 months of use
I got this as a gift for my grandmother who lives with us. She is 93 and has very bad short-term memory, and this seemed like a great solution to get her to walk hourly to stretch her legs. It worked great for about 6 months, before it started running a little slow. After about a week, it would be off by about 2 minutes. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, but when the alarm would go off on the hour, every time, without fail, she would comment that her other clock says it's still 2 till (which drove us nuts). After about 8 months it died on us. Tried replacing the battery, leaving it off for a period, but still nothing.. For some reason it started working about a month later, but after a week it was completely dead. I don't know if it got fried or something, but her room is always room temperature and it sat safely on a shelf next to her dvd player. Save yourself the money and try and find another solution, so far I've been scratching my head at my options. It's a real shame this didn't work out, but in the end, the product felt cheap, and it was.

not exactly what you want
Clock does NOT stand by itself. Has to be mounted to wall. No option to change display to something more functional if you dont want all the clutter. How hard would it be to add a $0.12 chip to allow that? Letters and numbers are big but there is just too much going on on screen. Will be sending it back tomorrow.
