The Hero's Closet: Sewing for Cosplay and Costuming

I've been cosplaying for fifteen years and I love this book! It is great for new cosplayers and an amazing review for experienced ones. I love the patterns and how easily explained they are in the book. Buying a regular pattern, I usually don't even bother with the directions because they are overcomplicated. But this book has great instructions and illustrations, so easy to understand. I can't say enough good things about it.It also has a good variety to cover many types of costumes you'd want to use for cosplay.If you're thinking about getting this book, go for it! This is a great book! It is a general overall sewing instructional, but very informative and easy to follow. It has great patterns in it and good suggestions on other books depending on what you want to focus on.

As someone who is self-taught in costuming and has no formal training in sewing, this really helps bring a lot of information together and complete it. Thanks so much for making this!!

Great info for sewing cosplay costumes for beginners as well as those with experience. Patterns included make this a great deal. Illustrations of different options are also helpful in understanding how to customize your own outfit or someone else's.

Well written book that will benefit anyone who needs to sew, alter, or repair clothing. The basic pieces included in the book can be combined into any number of cosplay outfits (as well as some "daily life" clothing). My daughter cosplays and was forever ordering - then needing to tailor to actually fit - her costumes. She says this book will save her time, expense and frustration in the future.

Good book. But I got this as a gift to someone else. It had patterns 3 and 4 attached in the back, but was missing 1 and 2 in the front. Be sure and check the contents as soon as you receive it.

This book great if you have any sewing knowledge. If you are a true beginner you may need some techinque supplement books.The only thing I did not really enjoy is the patterns that come with the book are difficult to distinguish from each other.

Great informations and really useful to have so may patterns in one book!! But the down side is that they are really hard to follow As the pattern are all mixed on 4 pages. It would have been nice to make a different color lining for each model ...

A very useful book bought for my younger daughter. She loved the variety of elements included in the book, most notably a beautiful cape which could be included in a wide range of costumes. My daughter also made the point that so many of the projects contained in this book could also be made for everyday wear. The pleated skirt is an example.

Not great. Definitely recommend ones by kaumi cosplay instead

I have enjoyed this book so far and found it helpful. Can be a little confusing and unclear at times but I managed eventually with some trial and error!

Bought this book for my cosplay-loving brother. He was very happy with it. It details making the basic garments required for many different cosplay characters, allowing the individual to adapt the garments as they like. A very useful book.

Das Buch ist sehr detailiert aufgebaut. Jedes Kleidungsstück wird ausführlich beschrieben und man erhält eine gute Übersicht, was für das Selbstnähen benötigt wird. Besonders gut haben mir die herausnehmbaren Schnittmuster gefallen.

Definitely helpful for anyone just starting out. I didn't realize it comes with fabric prints for the various things it talks about inside the book when I bought it, so that's a bonus.
