Had thought I seen all of Cheech Marin’s movies. This movie is hilarious. I give it five stars and recommend it highly. My wife enjoyed it as well and she’s not easy to make laugh.

My later wife and I went to visit my in-law when I went for a long walk when I noticed a green car following me I never noticed until it’s kept following me. I just smiled at them then they stopped. It was the border patrol thought it was illegal alien. I was born and raised in California I told my later wife.

My father and I saw this in theaters when it first came out. How fortuitous that it now has a Blu Ray release, as my father just moved in with us. My father was deported by accident three times in his life (teen years, in the 1980s, and just a few years ago). His adult years, he didn't have his wallet with him, so no ID during a Border Patrol checkpoint.We had a family night just a few days ago, to show my adult sons who had never heard of this. We all had a great time watching this.I loved the extras included. I watched those by myself, and I firmly believe that Cheech Marin is seriously underrated. Daniel Stern was fantastic as the ex-pat living in TJ.Probably most might find this film outdated, or maybe good to watch on Prime Video, but for those of us who are Mexican and on the right side of the border (legally, thank you), this is a welcome addition to our family collection.

Shipping was fast, watched it the day it arrived & it played nicely .. funny & cool movie with Cheech from last century .. I recommend watching this movie.

Loved this movie as a kid but the version is highly edited at the end. All of the parts w/Rudy getting kidnapped by the smugglers is cut, the border patrol agent after Rudy at the end is cut, and the wedding is cut. So this edit just kind of ends the movie with some chopped up scenes and doesn’t make sense. I read some other reviews say the deleted scenes are on the Blu-ray version.

Very fast deliveryFunny/ entertaining movie, very hard to find/ purchase/ stream elsewhere.A movie with this type of comedy, slurs and stereotypes would not be allowed today Watch with the understanding that it’s Comedy.

I love this movie, ever since I saw it as a kid in the 80s. A couple of caveats about this DVD version:It has 2 formats, wide screen and the "fit to your tv" one. It is the shorter version they played on TV, inboth formats. There are no extra deleted scenes, or longer cut options. It comes with 3 audio tracks, EnglishSpanish and French. Although ironically the Spanish version takes away from part of the story line. Since no oneis speaking English all the language related jokes are gone. They really should have left cheech and sterns charactersspeaking English, to help highlight both "fish out of water' they are both feeling. Daniel Stern's character is a much a"gringo" as Cheech Marin's character is, thats the funny part. despite being a mexican-american, Rudy is much moreAmerican and has more in common with Jimmy then anyone else. And Kamala Lopez (Dolores) does a wonderful jobas the sweet innocent hardworking girl with big dreams to come to the USA.

We bought this DVD version to watch with our grandkids so they could better understand the current situation in Arizona. It is so timely! We had forgotten what a well-crafted little masterpiece this movie is.For example, the orange vignette is a perfect little piece nicely scored with guitar music with a cute ending. It shows what a really nice guy "Rudy" is. Later, he is paid back well for his generosity. I won't spoil it by telling how.The picture-in-front-of-the-phone gag is as good as it ever was, and the "What's Happening Boys" are as funny as ever. It was great to be able to enjoy them all again.The movie is rated "R", mostly for language and a minor incident with drugs... but a funny and unexpected one. There is also a small sexual scene with a blind passerby in front of the bar, but its not at all offensive.Cheech Marin deserves some kind of award for this funny, funny movie!P.S. One thing seemed strange though... do (or did) pay phones in Mexico really use quarters?
