I'm thinking about 3metres?** A: The cable from the Optimate to the plug is approximately 1.5 metres, so 1.5 metres. I keep my Optimate in the garage and use two extension leads from the Optimate to the car on the drive with no problems. Many thanks.** A: Mine is on all the time and it is warm but not hot **Q: Can the optimate 6 be used on a bmw canbus sysyem? do you have to do all the same things as with the optimate 4?** A: My Mercedes is A Canbus system and so is my BMW motorcycle. I have an Optimate 5 on the bike and an Optimate 6 on the car and both work well. On the car I had the power point in the boot wired live all of the time so I didn’t have to keep lifting the bonnet and taking covers off the battery.
