Review: Good vinyl electrical tape when color coding is needed - I tend to prefer rubber electrical tape to vinyl but these multi-color tape rolls server a purpose to which they are well suited - marking lines. I live in a 1920s bungalow with a lot of old but still viable cloth insulated copper wiring. I don't know if the insulation was ever different colored but now all the lines are the same shade of dark grey. Once I test and determine the live wires, etc. I use these multi-color tapes (red, black, and white especially) in a band around the ends of the wires to mark the hot and neutral lines, etc. This is not only safer (no forgetting which line was hot and which was neutral) but saves time/effort when going back into a box or fixture to change something. So, for that purpose this works great and I always keep a set in my wiring toolkit. I've also used the yellow and green tape for non-electrical work or work on small projects where color is unimportant. The tape itself has a nice thickness, good adhesion, and can be stretched pretty tight without snapping when making those high tension wraps. Like all vinyl electrical tape it can get a little gooey if you try to remove it later on, but that's just par for the course. Good stuff here.
Review: Narrower than typical electrical tape - - it's 1/2" wide - - works great for me and I love the colors in this pack. - I use these as markers for keys. We have rental property and also hold keys to friends and neighbors homes as well. Lots of keys, but for security reasons, I don't necessarily like having descriptive labels on them. Instead, I color mark the keys with a little strip of this colored tape. John's house is yellow, so his key gets a yellow strip of tape . . . Jane's front door is red, so her key gets a red stripe . . . I did not realize when I ordered these, that they are narrower than the typical 1" black electrical tape. It specifically says on the packaging and in the description, that these tapes are 1/2" wide. In my case, this is actually a benefit and works better than the wide tape - - - just something to take notice of if you're looking for standard 1" wide tape.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: water proof**
A: waterproof is more about how well you tape up your wires or whatever. Can you make a joint mostly waterproof for like the rain? Sure, for under water applications? No, no way.....not with tape. What you want are waterproof heat shrink sleeves, the kind that have a softer interior material that will melt around the join while the out skin squeezes down on to it. Makes an almost hermetic seal.

**Q: Would it work on pencils and pens?**
A: I wouldn't use PVC (which most electric tapes are made of) on pencils and pens, especially if kids are going to use the pencils (or pens) afterward and touching the PVC. They aren't kid-safe in terms of toxicity. There are safer alternatives.

**Q: my order just came in.  why isn't the diminutive size listed in the product information?  angry here.**
A: The size specification is called out in inches when it should be called out in millimeters.

**Q: would this with leakage for a screw cap?  Need to ship some oil and tape around the screw cap**
A: Screw lid on tight. Use a bottle that has a cap liner made of something that will not be affected by the oil; ie. not cardboard. Use 3M 88 black tape. Wrap 2 turns of tape going clockwise (the direction that the cap turns. End the tape on the bottle, not on the tape. Pull the tape out about 2" and move it down to end on the bottle Stretch the tape some but not excessively. The end part on the bottle should not be stretched. Be sure that the tape goes from the cap down to the bottle neck.  If you use a plastic bottle, check chemical compatibility. Squeeze the bottle to remove air. This is so that it won't slosh in the package. 
Stretch the tape some but not excessively. Answer based on 28 years experience in a chemical control laboratory.

I tend to prefer rubber electrical tape to vinyl but these multi-color tape rolls server a purpose to which they are well suited - marking lines. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Much smaller rolls than I had expected

I had read the dimensions and other reviews about how these were smaller than most rolls of electrical tape. I was still shocked at how small they actually are though when I finally had them in hand. What I would consider a normal roll of electricians tape is 3/4" wide by 66' long. These rolls are only 1/2" wide by 20' long. They are very small rolls. See the attached picture where I have them compared next to a normal sized 3/4"x66' roll (that's already had quite a bit used from it) and you will get a better idea of their size. Other than the size, it's different colored electrical tape and that's what I wanted (specifically the blue, green and yellow colors). I'll still use black electrical tape most often so hopefully these rolls will last quite a while since my need to have specific colors is fairly limited.
