This increase the replayability of the game ~ Game play: - House rule. I bought this game with the intention to play with international students, and regular Taboo is already hard for most native English speakers, therefore to house rule it, you can play it backward, all you can say is the 5 words listed below the word you are trying to get people to guess. (in terms of questions on cards?)** A: It is pretty much the same game as the older version... the only difference my family and I noticed is the "buzzer" is more of a squeaker. We had fun playing! **Q: Do you all recommend I purchase the newer version or stick with the old version? I've played the latter before and loved it.** A: I recommend purchasing the newer version. I own and love the old version and the new version has the option of adding a twist but you can just chose to play it the traditional way. The biggest reason I would recommend purchasing the new one if the words and people are more current and relevant to today. **Q: Are the cards in this version updated? (the old version is very dated with some of the words and people)** A: Yes, they are modern cards. The only other changes are, there's two clues on each side of the card. The cards are wider (they don't fit in the old holder), and the buzzer is now a squeak toy.... Taboo has always been our very favorite game. We have owned the original one for years. It is a blast to play with our kids and when we have other couples over for game nights. My husband and I are the champs! We had recently noticed that the many of the cards in the original game are a bit outdated now, though. So of course, I was really excited when I found this new updated version. This new game has a ton of new cards. Each card has 2 sets of words on each side. Like the original, it comes with an hour glass style flip timer and a small note pad for score keeping. I really like the fact that the some what annoying buzzer in the original game has now been replaced with a fun purple squeaker that sounds similar to a dog toy. The game is still the same.... you have to get your partner to guess the word with out using any of the other words on the card.
