I contacted the seller and and they sent me a video. It turns out that you need to connect the ESC to the Aileron / Elevator Stick of your radio control for it to work. I was originally connecting it to the Throttle stick which would only control the speed in one single direction. I bought 4 ESC and all of them work very well. Here is what I'm using: a brushed DC motor type 380 (Jameco Part number 232022), Radiolink AT9s Pro + R9DS, and a OVONIC 3s Lipo Battery 50C 5000mAh 11.1V. I had to buy a cable / connector kit to make cables to connect the ESC to the battery (JST to XT60 connector) and to the motors (JST to JST connector).
