Good one. LED Bulbs are different than the old incandescent and halogen bulbs. These bulbs radiate heat from the dome. LED Bulbs don't radiate heat but transfer it through the base of the bulb. So yes the base does heat up but consider how hot the old incandescent 100W bulbs get. So it's normal what you're seeing. **Q: Are these bulbs safe for ceiling fan light fixture?** A: If the base of your ceiling fan bulbs is E26 then these bulbs should work fine. Some ceiling fan light sockets have a candelabra base so these will not work with these bulbs **Q: If mounted in outdoor lantern fixtures, are these bulbs durable enough to handle the vibration which occurs when garage doors open/close.** A: This bulb was tested by Chamberlain garage door openers for compatibility and is recommended by them. When I ran out and had to start using LEDs, I realized that it's the weird orange glow that bugs me - I hated the unnatural way it looks in my home and it drove me crazy. I also hated that I I could only find 60W equivalents. That is just not bright enough. These are very literally the FIRST LED bulbs I've tried that I am genuinely happy with! At 100W equivalent, they are nice and bright, but not too bright. I use them in my living room, office and kitchen. The color temperature at 3000K is finally pretty perfect. It is thankfully less orange on the temp. spectrum. And the "soft white" makes it not appear too harsh or artificial. Over all, I'm very happy to have found these bulbs!
