There are issues here that SHOULD be shared between parents and children. Children should be told, that not all adults grew up right, and not all they do is right. We should discuss these issues with them.This book does exactly that. We see the future world, where things are ran for the biggest profit of a few unscrupulous individuals. The young heroes of the book are informed that some rules about getting food are wrong. That forbidding people growing their own, is having devastating effects. Smart, loving heroes, gently guided by an elderly woman, who wants to pass her knowledge on, learn about the ways to grow food from plants. For that learning they face cruel consequences. Two of them have their mother arrested and have to run. They willingly take upon themselves the burden of making things right. They are good role models.The book introduces a priceless commodity in children's literature, THINKING.I would strongly advise to use this book, to make reading it into a strong lesson about our world, about mistakes that people make and the consequences of those mistakes. This story allows a parent to show their children, how it will be their job to do everything right, so we don't face the future like the one in this book.I would suggest to read it together. There are things here, that parents should discuss and explain to their children. I dislike the fact, that everything the kids did, was kept secret from their mom. And use of religion and the teachings from the bible, to make children disobey is very, very dangerous. That's why I would encourage to use it as guided reading. Other than this small bump, I see this book as a very good suggestion for your kid's To Be Read pile. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Educational Story about Nutrition and Healthy Foods *by E***T on Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2017* Treasure is a wonderful educational story of learning about healthy food and where they came from. In a distant future, Claire and Dante have lived on processed foods labeled as carbs, protein, sweet, and snack. There are no such things as real foods to the disadvantaged and poor. Every food products are man-made and regulated by the government and corporations. Growing fruits and vegetables are illegal.When Claire and Dante are tutored by an old woman, Ana, they learned about real food such as tomatoes, carrots, peaches, and so many produces. They even learned to grow them. When their mother is arrested by the police on the discovery of the plants, Claire and Dante fled to the "Garden State" (New Jersey) with the help of the underground known as "Seed Saver".The narrator, Julia Farmer does a wonderful job for the children's voices. The listeners are able to make a distinction between the children and adult's voices. I hope the original narrator continues for the rest of the Seed Saver series.This story is educational and a perfect tool to teach young children the value of nutrition of healthy eating.I was given this audiobook by the author and I have volunteered to write an honest review.
