Review: Will buy again - I'm currently on a calorie deficit, I wanted to try this rice due to the low calories and the price (£0.89 at time of writing this review) The shelf life is 6 months which is probably a reflection for the price. Packaging has cooking instructions but I just treated it like normal rice. Heated it in a pan with about 2 tablespoons of water alongside some frozen vegetables, once that came to a boil I threw in 2 eggs, some garlic powder, onion powder and soy sauce. The rice absorbed some of the flavour but it was quite tasteless on it's own, I felt using some sort of sauce would benefit the taste but the way I prepared it was great as the vegetables and egg were flavourful enough and kept the calories low while adding protein. The texture is similar to little pieces of jelly but slightly tougher, I didn't notice any scent after opening. It isn't a carbon copy of rice, but is a great replacement especially for diets. Based on my experience I'll be buying more of this and I can see it being not only great as I prepared it above, but also a great addition to soups to make them more filling for anyone else in a calorie deficit. Texture of raw gelatine and rubber. Followed instructions and even left for longer once I realised they weren’t softening.
