## Description

Wireless WinPC Adapter Xbox 360

Review: 7+ years of use; driver troubleshooting; would recommend - Edit 1/17/2026 Still plugged into my computer nonstop since 2011. Working perfectly in windows 11 with my still-in-use xbox360 controllers. Original Review i bought this product about 7 years ago; in 2011, and it still works to this day. i used to have to go to microsoft's website to download xbox360 receiver drivers to apply to this product otherwise it would show up as "unknown device" in my device manager and be unable to sync. since the arrival of windows 10, microsoft has built-in xbox360 drivers and i am able to manually pick from a list of drivers on my computer to apply to this product instead of having to download on my own. cons: sometimes the pc forgets what device this is if you unplug it and it goes back to being "unknown device" when you plug it back in and you have to reapply the drivers to it. any other issues have been resolved by simply uninstalling the device and reinstalling the drivers. pros: it really did increase the amount of games i could comfortably play on steam and anything else that accepts microsoft controllers. it has been plugged in and on every time i power up my pc every day, for the past 7 years and it has not burnt out. whenever i ever had a sync issue, it was because of the controller im trying to sync itself having insufficient battery power and not the receivers fault. although... mine looks a little different from the black one with the word microsoft on it in the product picture though. mine is white on the top panel and gray on the bottom panel with the words "xbox 360" printed at the top and a green LED at the bottom of the front of the product. on the back it says pc wireless gaming receiver and the usual made in china and disposal logos etc. if i remember correctly, mine came with a pc drivers disc about the size of a gamecube game disc. i remember struggling with the drivers contained on that disc until i went to microsoft's website itself to download drivers which then did work more reliably. since then, windows 10 has made going to microsoft's website obsolete with the built-in xbox360 drivers on the system. to install: go to device manager and find the receiver (mine showed up as unknown device in the other devices section) right click the device and go to properties and driver tab and select update driver. you must select "browse my computer for driver software" and then "let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" and go in the "xbox360 peripherals" section and select a receiver driver to install. after this point you should be able to sync a controller to it either the provider changed how the product looks over the years, or perhaps it is coming from a different manufacturer and the one i own whose quality i enjoy, may no longer be relevant to this exact product page even though this is the exact page i ordered from so many years ago.
Review: Really cool device. Adds new functions and possibilities to your gaming computer. - I've been wanting this adapter for so long. I don't know what took me so long to purchase it. I keep plugging in ps4 controllers into my Windows 7 computer and while the controllers sync up just fine.. many of the games I play want me to use an xbox 360 controller so I spend so much time trying to figure out how to trick the game into thinking my ps4 controller is a xbox 360 controller.. and it never works quite right. I end up getting frustrated and never actually playing a game because of this. The game becomes, how do I google and fix my ps4 controller to work with this game, which is NOT a fun game. Anyway, to review this product I would say: Pros: * Works fantastic * Syncs up to 4 devices * (mine) came with driver disc Cons: * Was not plug-n-play for me * (since I do not like installing drivers from discs for fear they are already outdated) Had to sift through Microsoft website pages to find the driver * Have to restart computer for it to work The cons aren't bad enough to knock a star lol, installing a driver and restarting so I can play games with wireless controllers for the rest of eternity is worth it. For my test, I have 2 xbox 360 controllers collecting dust because I have a ps4 now and I never wanna use my xbox 360 anymore. I have them on a charging station so I knew they would be better used paired to my computer than just sitting there staying charged and collecting dust. As soon as I synced them up I opened up my Super Nintendo Emulator and tested setting all the buttons for player 1 and player 2 and it worked flawlessly. I have no complaints whatsoever. The Microsoft website says you can also pair an xbox 360 headset to this. I haven't tried that, but if that is true that is really cool! That opens up a new market of devices I can shop for to enhance my computers abilities.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it work with Xbox One controller ?**
A: No, adapter for Xbox One controller coming out at the end of the year. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-One/dp/B00ZB7W4QU

**Q: does it work with steam?**
A: It works on Windows 7 and 8.1, so if the game you are playing on Steam has support for a windows based controler then yes it will, but compatability in that case will depend on the specific game. If the controler is detected in windows (it is) then check on Steam on the right side of the games store page to see if it lists "Full controller support".

**Q: how many controllers work at a time**
A: You can sync up to four to the computer just like the 360, each controller will also have difference light position light up. I've tried up to 3, only have 3 controllers.Source can also be found here, first paragraph.http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-other-devices/connections/xbox-360-wireless-gaming-receiver-windows

**Q: Does this work on Windows 8?**
A: Indeed it does, without any issues or driver installs. Works right out of the box.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buy it now!
*by D***K on October 12, 2013*

Summary: the product is great, works as expected, and WILL OPERATE UP TO 4 CONTROLLERS. Look past my auction site tip of the hat and have this shipped to you right now. I am a recent convert to PC gaming; my 360 and P$3 are slowly fading away. As my steamy pile of games increases I found myself wanting more and more to be able to use a trigger button as opposed to an awkward reach of the finger on the keyboard. After looking at a few different sellers of similar products I chose this one. Other listings seem to be knock off copies. I was willing to pay for the real deal. As other reviewers have pointed out, this product seems to be genuine M$. If it is a knock off, it is a first rate clone. There was a lack of proper retail packaging, BUT the product was secured in a proper electronics bag, inside bubble wrap with a software disc and literature; all appearing to be genuine and finally shrink wrapped. That's it; no clam shell or UPC. No big deal. As other reviewers have recommend, I did NOT utilize the included install disc, but instead did a search for basically the item description to locate the most recent software/driver. There are updates that were made to the driver/software since the release of the disc. INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Search for and install the official M$ driver/software available from their website. 2) Plug the hardware into your PC's USB port. 3) The device should be recognized. 4) UNPLUG ANY 360 that might be in range. Previously synced controllers will turn it on. 5) Push the button on the receiver. 6) Push the little button on the top of the controller (near the charger plug). . 7) The devices will sync. The little software HUD style display (when running) will show you if a controller is connected; in the same style of the 360. Cool. No problems so far with games, the bigger titles didn't even need adjustments to control input settings. By the way the device WILL work with up to four controllers. This makes the value proposition much better in my opinion. The listing pictures make it seem like it is the size of a common corded computer mouse. It is about half that size. What are you waiting for, stop reading this and buy it.
