I devoured it in a few days, and am now back on my secound and third readings. Step by step instructions, LOADED with examples and illustrations, stuffed with tips and tricks from the last 100 years of experts in the field. I am a 3-D animator, and though the book was written by a semi - "old school" animator, it has already vastly improved my work and changed (read, corrected) my entire approach to animation. This book does not concentrate on mediums and media (software, paper, film etc) It FULLY Covers the actual ART of Animation: Timing, expression, Formulas, planning, etc etc. Best book purchase I have made in years. It doesn't waste time disscussing character development and drawing methods, It cuts straight to the chase - Animation; Grace movement, speed, reality vs. cartoon effects. The book itself is soft cover, and rather large and heavy - I'm not sure how well the binding will hold up as it IS a workbook and has already seen much dog earring, and margin notes and markers by me. It lays flat on a desk so it lends itself to "real time" instruction.
