On slot is specifically for DSL line to computer while the other is for your phone. Works perfectly. This assumes that you have DSL service. **Q: Will this work without having to switch the router settings to accept a DSL connection?** A: I purchased this for DSL, hooked phone line to the router and turned it on. I did have to enter codes but I believe they were on a separate sheet of paper, plus on the unit itself. Router was easy to set up and works fine. **Q: Will this device accept full size Ethernet connector?** A: No Mr. Bowles this is a Phone Filter and will only accept RJ-11 connectors. It has nothing to do with your Ethernet Network.
