My daughter has had this case for about 5 weeks, I’ve had it for about 3. The case portion of mine developed a serious crack/chip in the lower right (lower right when using as a computer). This caused the ipad to occasionally become unseated from the case.I love the thing so much, I immediately went to order another assuming it was just a fluke. Fortunately, the item was not in stock. When I checked my daughter’s later that evening, I noticed hers had developed a less severe crack in the exact same spot. Admittedly, I did use a Demel to widen the opening around the charging port to allow the use of a magnetic adapter. That could have weakened the case enough for this to happen, but I kinda doubt it. That said, I haven’t seen any other reviews or questions mentioning this, so it may have been my minor modifications or just be bad luck.Since this is out of stock anyway and the vendor doesn’t have a solid in-stock date, I’m going to try a similar product that claims to be all aluminum and has a clip for inserting the ipad so that you don’t have to deform the case during tablet insertion: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DKY3QRF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1For my daughter’s I’m just going to see if I can work a little superglue into the crack.One other minor issue that seems to be happening to both - the hinge has loosened a bit over time. It is still plenty strong enough to prevent the ‘laptop’ from opening. But, there is enough play that the ipad can separate far enough from the magnets in the keyboard to wake up while carrying it. This is pretty minor because it won’t happen sitting on a desk and probably wouldn’t happen while carrying in a bag.Other than the above function and battery life continue to be good.ORIGINAL REVIEW:This is an excellent keyboard and case combination and I’m writing this review using the keyboard. The keys are responsive and have a good feel to them. It’s easy to pair with the iPad, easy to insert the iPad into the case, compact, and lightweight. The case detaches and reattached to the keyboard quickly and quite firmly.I added stick-on metal (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RKKZNQO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) plates to both the underside of the keyboard and the exterior back of the case for use with a magnetic Apple Pecil sleeve (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XJ26RBR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The plates adhered well to the case/keyboard and function quite well with that magnetic sleeve to keep the Apple Pencil firmly affixed to the case/keyboard.One thing that is hinted at in the images but isn’t explicitly stated is that you can attach the case (iPad) backwards to operate in a “tent” mode and also completely close the clamshell with the iPad screen facing out but the keyboard on the inside of the clamshell. This allows you to hold the combination as a thick tablet without accidentally pressing any of the keyboard keys.I am overwhelmingly impressed. I purchased this for my daughter but will be buying another for myself.There are a couple minor negatives..- The keyboard is just a bit tight. However, that’s to be expected with something this size and I’m very picky, so this is a minor drawback.- There is, occasionally, a very slight but noticeable keyboard lag. Again, this is very slight and very easy to adjust to.- I use a Lightning to magnetic adapter to charge the iPad and the opening around the Lightning connector wasn’t quite big enough. This is definitely an edge case and was fixed with a Dremel in about 2 minutes.- The case is a little bit thick. I didn’t really buy this for drop protection, so I’d actually prefer a thinner back to the case. I think this would probably help if the tablet were dropped on its back. I’m skeptical that the case provides much corner drop or screen drop (when not attached to the keyboard) protection. But, that’s also not why I bought this. Plus, the closed keyboard + case is still under 20 mm thick.The only thing that really annoys me and the sole reason I’m not giving this 5 stars is because I cannot figure out a way to turn off the keyboard or put it to sleep. There is a button that allows you to tell the iPad to use the on screen keyboard, it will fall asleep after several minutes of use, and, in most apps, long pressing the “v” icon in the lower right will cause the on screen keyboard to appear, but in apps like Notes, it’s possible to dismiss the on screen keyboard and get into a state where you have to go press that button on the keyboard - which you may have left in another room. With several taps on the iPad you can disconnect the keyboard without turning all Bluetooth off. But that’s a bit of an inconvenience. If this had an easy “off” mechanism, I’d bump my review up to 5 stars.I can’t yet speak to battery life, but will update this review if I encounter any problems there or with other functionality. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best portable keyboard I’ve used *by J***M on Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2019* The media could not be loaded.  Watch the video review, this thing is amazing. Feels like a laptop, it’s sturdy and has a good weight to it. I love the multi color backlight and the function keys that really turn my iPad into a productivity tool. I use my iPad every day in meetings and now it’s a viable laptop replacement. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ making iPad functional like a laptop *by S***G on Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2019* The case is solidly built and fit perfectly with the switch openings; the detachable keyboard has a great keystroke distance and the back light really helps the typing at the situation with less illuminating situation. The overall weight is proper and the magnet allows easy attachment of the iPad to the keyboard. The iPad case provides good protection to the back of iPad without adding too much weight. I typed this review with Pages and sometimes forgot I was typing on the iPad.
