Tired of all my liberal/leftie friends and acquaintances telling me I can’t truly hate communism without reading their bible I did it, I bought the book. This book was a great read to confirm how much socialism and communism really do suck. Luckily it’s not a long read and it’s super easy to understand because it’s terrible. 10/10 would buy this book again it just gave me one more reason to love capitalism!

    Much More Meaningful Now

I read The Communist Manifesto in college, at least two or three times, as part of history classes and even a couple English literature classes, to provide context. Yet, I don't know that I read it this closely back then, or that I took the time then to really think about the ideas and take notes (many, many notes). Back then, I was firm in my idea of "democracy good, communism bad," and eventually came to think of the Manifesto as purely a philosophical essay. But right now we are living in an age of economic disparity that is even sharper than The Gilded Age, when less than 1% of the world's population controls more than 95% of the wealth. And yet, few are really critiquing a capitalist system that sets in motion this inequality. And in looking at a communist plan for a manufacturing plant or a socialist state, there appears to be a lot more democracy and "will of the people" going on. I was already on the path of doing more research, but the Manifesto has inspired much more thought than I expected.

As an individual who had to leave my own country and experience the "total" destruction of the economic and social structure of the nation in less than 20 years, I have to say that this are the worst ideas ever developed in history.About the manifesto. The ideology of victim and oppressor (proletariat vs bourgeois) is just way too oversimplified for the complexity of entire societies around the world. It doesn't offer any solutions (just have faith that the communist centralized government will do the right thing for the proletariat). Even if you can put yourself in the 19th century historic context and have empathy for the conditions workers had during that time you find yourself reading later on how the authors criticize those socialist who want to improve those conditions. They complain on how free market develops and expand to different nations (with a very overprotecting sense of nationalism) but later on is no borders and no nations, we are all the same (proletariats who have to take over the bourgeois). It is not as utopian as I thought it would be, is more like a scream for revolution due to the fast changes in society by the industrial revolution, they don't like what is happening, they don't have the hunger and motivation to get on that wave, let's just go against the system and stir things up. Is just whining and let's take over everything somebody else has built. No private property, control of education, no religion, no family, no A B and C... basically no freedom to choose (because that is how everybody will be free).Reading this and knowing this is the most influential manifesto in politics and followed by millions is really sad...
