What was on offer at Halfords for stem raising where I bought the bike didn't help, neither did the staff suggest such a simple solution, only suggesting how difficult it might be with cable lengths etc..I even bought new handlebars which hardly gave any raise at all. Then I saw this product and couldn't believe how stupid I'd been! Fitted this in under 10 minutes and got an immediate 2" lift; no problem with cables; job done. This stem extender combined with medium rise handlebars now means she is in an upright position and has no problems. This part fits a 1 1/8" steerer tube (very common size) so check your bike first. Only suitable for bikes with threadless headsets, so if you have a threaded headset you will want a longer quill stem instead. You will only need a hex key to fit but make sure you understand how to get the star nut bolt tension correct before you begin.
