Though the GR07 is probably a little more detailed (yet also more sibilant) with a slightly larger sound stage, I really enjoy the VSD5 sound signature. In my observation has slightly more bass than the original GR07. I've grown tired of the adjustable nozzles on my GR07 earphones, so I find the fixed nozzles on the VSD5 earphones a relief, particularly since I can easy to obtain a seal and they don't constantly pop out of my ears. I prefer the tips that come on the earphones and have found that comply tips tend to overly reduce the brightness. I haven't had any quality issues. Nor have I tried the Sony EX1000, so I can't comment on whether the VSD5 comparison is accurate. Regardless, you get a huge bang for the buck with these headphones, which in my mind more than compensates for any complaints about their somewhat pedestrian design. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth a try *by A***Z on November 20, 2015* These are probably one of the better sounding vsonic models out there, but build quality is a concern. The highs on the vsonic models are just too harsh for me. I can see why people love this model but it just wasnt for me. Keep in mind that I only used this with my iphone 6 and the static was also very annoying. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you care about your music, buy these. If you don't - do your ears a favor and buy them anyway *by B***N on October 30, 2015* I have a bunch of IEMs, including some that cost considerably more than these VSD5s - DUNU 2000s, Etymotic ER4P, and Sennheiser IE80s, among others. I believe these Vsonics sound as good as the DUNUs, better than the Etys, and nearly as good as the IE80s. And, since these Vsonics are comfortable and will stay in my ears, whereas the IE80s are not comfortable and won't stay in place if I move at all, these have become my favorite and my go-to earphones.They sound great plugged straight into my phone. Couple them with a lossless files from a DAP passed through a DAC/Amplifier and we're talking some serious audible bliss. I mostly listen to hard rock/heavy metal/punk and mostly as I jog. On this morning's run, I heard nuances in Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic that I have NEVER heard before, despite having been listening to this song for more than 30 years.
