My husband put it together but it only took him 15 minutes or so. I have not had any issues with it rolling away or out from under me. There is a plastic peice that covers the welding between the post and legs (3rd and 4th photo), this is made out of plastic and feels a little fragile. I don't think this plastic peice will hold up to much stress. You could always just leave it off as it is strictly for cosmetic purposes. All in all a great stool for a vanity. It has a wide range for hight adjustment.
