I must say...this is my SECOND copy as my first mysteriously disappeared from my doorstep! I have never had a package go missing ... and for it to be this one... well, if, by chance, this was by ill intent (stolen)... I could only image the look on the individuals face when he/she opened the package to see a beautiful book on sewing men's shirts!!! hahahahaha! Anyway, I have a new copy on the way.... cannot wait to get it!! :) I do not have any of Mr. Coffin's other books...but I have read many many articles and review about him and his work online... and he is amazingly talented! 6/5/2015: My book has arrived!!! This is an amazing book to say the least! First off, the book is a little bigger than the regular book, and has nice paper along with load of pictures! I am very picky about books and paper quality and the one is nice! The is online content to go along with the book, including printable patterns for the items in the book.... please note - there is a note from the author that the online content is not quite complete (due to move up in book release)... most of the patterns are available in the online content - more than enough to keep you busy while the rest are added. I am very happy with the book! ...and hopefully, whoever (or where-ever) the first book I purchased happened to end up - I hope that person is just as pleased with the book as I am! I plan on purchasing David's other books in the near future! My fabric is serged an washing as I type! (Sewing Edition) ***Revised*** *by C***A on February 20, 2017* ********************************************Review for book************************************************** Chapter 1.) Block Logic-This section goes over Drafting, Copying,Draping and Fitting a block. Will you be able to do this from the book.Absolutely not Chapter 2.) Skills And Structures-I think he did an excellent job explaining how to sew without pins but that was all that I liked from this section the rest is pretty much letting you know some of the seams-button holes sewing plackets,pockets etc. The book does not discuss when to use these methods-what sections of the garments to use these methods, and the illustrations and instructions are insufficient to fully execute any of the items in this section. Chapter 3.) The Dress (Or Shaped)Shirt Block- Chapter 4.) The Sport/Work (Or Loose-Fitting) Shirt Block-I liked the more pocket and cuff ideas in this section. Chapter 5.) The Knit( Or Stretch Fabric) Shirt Block Chapter 6.) The folk(Or Rectangular) Shirt Block Chapter 7.) The Shirt Jacket (Or Over Sized) Block I think the book was just meh the online content is were the good stuff is at. I wish more construction information would have been given overall. This workbook is not for the beginner as nice as the information is, if you don't already have a solid base with drafting and draping you won't be able to replicate the designs. ************REVISION*********(FOR ONLINE CONTENT) After reviewing the online content for designing, and drafting patterns-This is an amazing resource to have I'm working on a shirt dress as we speak and tweaking a few things from the idea's that I gleaned from the book :). There is so much information on the online resource that I wish a master page with just the links were given, it would have made it easier to click on especially when you are following the book. I wish the online content was more organized. This book and resources are practical but the content is all over the place. After you get familiar with the book you probably won't need it as much and be able to use the online content primarily, but until then you will probably be going back and forth. Does this book give you pattern,design, and construction resources YES.
