It requires 3 sensors. I bought 2 different part numbers (cannot remember the numbers) - they appeared to be identical except for pigtail length. The downstream sensor was very difficult to remove - even with the sensor socket. Ended up having the pipe after the sensor replaced with a welded in flange arrangement - and they put the sensor in the new pipe for me. The other 2 sensors came out and were replaced without problems - just soak them with a rust buster type solvent and heat them up. **Q: Will this fit 2009 mercury mariner front wheel drive, v6. also what others does this vehicle require and qty of each. i would like to replace the 4.** A: Howdy Blanton, Ok first off replacing all the sensors that's not needed unless they are pulling a code on the car/trucks comp is a little bit of a waste, what I would do if you do is if you have a obd2 code reader then see what code it pulls or if not then go to an auto parts store and ask them to pull the code on the vehicle and see which sensor is bad and then just replace that one. its alot of money to throw away just to say you replaced them. The correct Downstream oxygen sensor is the Bosch 15717. The Upstream unfortunately depends on the Engine Vin, which is the 8th letter from left to right on a Vin Number.
