### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Intriguing plots, delightful characters
*by F***I on May 21, 2014*

First, Hercule Poirot is an absolutely wonderful character invented by Agatha Christie. Although he is Belgian, many people think he is French because of his accent. As a younger man, he was a policeman, and he becomes a private detective at some point around the time he moves to England. All of this takes place in the WWI, WWII eras. A great deal of the enjoyment of the first few Poirot series comes from the friendships the meticulous Hercule has with a free-spirited Hastings (his aristocratic assistant) and hard-working Jap (Chief Inspector at Scotland Yard), as well as with super efficient Miss Lemon (Poirot's secretary). The stories are filled with wonderful characters, breath-taking scenery and plots with several possible outcomes. Poirot's "little gray cells" work hard as he leads Hastings and Jap to the solutions of the crimes. If the reader enjoys mystery with minimum gore, fun twists and turns, interesting actors, stunning backdrops and costuming, delightful outcomes and variety in plotlines, then the early Poirot series are perfect. The later series become dark and frightening. Jap, Hastings and Miss Lemon are replaced with a boring butler, and Poirot becomes an overweight, rather angry detective.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am a fan!
*by P***R on September 29, 2013*

I like this series and every episode of the entire Suchet-Poirot partnership and have watched them many times. They provide a good escape when the more brutal aspects of current presentations become too much to endure. While Ms Christie does present mankind with great insight, she does not feel compelled to tell of every stroke of the knife or bludgeoning of the fist - as with Poirot it is the psychology of the people involved that demands our attention. The characters are well developed by the actors and the stories while not always true to the original as written by Agatha Christie are very enjoyable. The production quality is wonderful and obvious, well-crafted attention was given in each episode to the details of dress, locations, and character of the people and the situations they encounter and enables them to be as watchable today as when they were originally produced.Like I said - I am a fan!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Question us Mr. Poirot. Just like you would normal people."
*by E***Z on January 28, 2014*

Fabulous. Four terrific mysteries presented on four disks, all featuring the greatest sleuth since..............?Hercule Poirot (vividly portrayed by David Suchet) is called upon to solve some confounding murders. The first disrupts his holiday. A cantankerous old man fears someone is out to kill him and all the suspects are his relatives. ("If I had an enemy I'd cut his throat.") The second case is far more complicated, involving thefts, smuggling, and murder. The third case, Murder on the Links, comes about when Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) has ulterior motives for the vacation `they' are taking. They end up at the Hotel Du Golf and fall into a trap of instant intrigue. The last mystery is the most fun. It features the best guest star they've ever employed.........Bob, a dog with ball and just one trick he doesn't mind endlessly repeating. "Dog! You will sit!"Happy to add this to my collection so I can enjoy them anytime I want.
