As aptx HD codec is on an higher bandwidth 24bit depth 48kHz sampling rate higher than CD/cda format 44100kHz 16bit. Your device required to be compatible at aptx HD 48kHz 24bit, BT5.0 stream. I'm not an audiophile but I have a decent Marantz amp and 2 pairs of B&W speakers and with this receiver connected by RCA the sound is greatly improved over what I had previously. It comes with cables in the box for a quick setup and pairs easily with mine or a friend's phone immediately.
