I went through many name brand top off systems. Float valves get slimy, covered with alkaline, snails get stuck in them, etc., or the control just stops working. I was fed up, so I asked several reef buddies what they used that was reliable and they recommended Avast. I bought this Feb 2019 to use on my sps tank. It has worked flawlessly ever since. Not one issue. I did change the tubing a few months ago. I'm setting up a new nano tank and I'm buying another. I dont really use the float. I have one if I need it. I like the diaphragm pump better than a magnetic/impeller pump. Well worth the cost as it won't get gunk stuck in it and quit working. Ive got 5 tanks (soon 6) for my sps coral/high end anemone/high end euphyllia and soft coral Review: Great ATO. Durable and reliable. - I've been shopping for a good quality ATO that won't break my wallet and will last a long time. I looked at the top brands and tested most of them. By far this is the only one that really gave me all that I needed. Reliability and longevity. When you purchase the system. Make sure to include the backup float. The magnet is pretty strong. I have a 1/4 inch thick acrylic on my sump and its really hard to peel the magnet and move the unit. You really have to take the magnet off to be able to move it in place. I will buy again. One to turn on the auto fill when too low and another to turn off the skimmer if too high. Reliable over several years but have replaced the rubber tubing a few times. You need to keep spare tubing handy.
