It looks like there's a new model now with more parts included for less than we paid ($27.95). If it works as well as the model we received, we'd give it a "thumbs up": for the price, the quiet performance, the ease of use, the easy cleanup, and quick and good job it does of chopping and slicing. The suction cups keep the unit solidly stuck to the counter top which makes it easy to really get the rpm's going on the handle when chopping.When we first received ours, we wanted to give it a true test so we threw big chunks of veggies in with a great deal of doubt about whether it could handle the job. We took care not to strain the unit though and when the blades got stuck (which happens frequently when working with big chunks), we simply turned the handle the opposite direction (a suggestion we read in another review - thanks!) for about 1/2 turn and then tried chopping again. After working back and forth for a time, the pieces were small enough that it's smooth sailing and in an amazingly short period of time we had the size pieces we wanted (or almost). We've used it regularly ever since.There are a few things on our "wish list" that weren't satisfied. For instance, we'd love to be able to FINELY chop a SMALL quantity of ginger. We've found that if we put in a small chunk of anything, not just ginger, it simply spins around and around without being cut. So we put in a whole stem of ginger and that worked okay but didn't quite get as fine as we wanted - but pretty close though! Then we were left with a bunch of ginger that we didn't use before it went bad. Someone suggested freezing the part we didn't want to use immediately which sounds like a good idea.The bottom line is that it probably doesn't work as well for some jobs as an electric food processor but for many jobs it's great and for the price, the quiet, and the energy consciousness of it, it's hard to beat. We recommend reading the instruction book before using your unit because it contains some helpful information about subtle things - like how to take the lid off (not as obvious as it may seem perhaps :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product *by T***D on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2012* Works quickly and efficiently. In seconds, this will chop onions, peppers, garlic to the mincing stage. It chops cooked ham and turkey to the point it becomes ground. This unit will also chop tough vegetables...carrots, turnips, celery, cabbage potatoes.,etc...quickly and thoroughly. The mandolin attachment has 3 slicing thicknesses...thick, medium, and thin. The thin adjustment produces very thin slices. I made homemade kettle potato chips that were crunchy, delicious and thin. The egg separator works well. The batter attachment is not for regular dough, but it's good for mixing corn bread and pancake batter. Also works well for beating a lot of eggs and whipping fresh cream. The one thing it won't do is chop potatoes in sticks for traditionally sliced french fries.The plastic bowl is heavier weight and sturdy. The base has suction feet and keep the bowl firmly in place while using. The crank is user friendly. The little ball fits comfortably into the palm. No need to exert a lot of pressure or force. Even a person with mild arthritis can use this. All components lock into place. The bowl locks to the base, and the lids lock to the bowl. The mandolin attachment also locks to the bowl.I like the bright and cheery color and it doesn't take up much counter space. It does not come with the photograhed lids and scraper. Read product description thoroughly. Great to use for everyday jobs, even if you own a large food processor. Simple to assembly and clean. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars It's all good so far *by R***K on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2012* Our old powered food processor from about 40 years ago finally conked out, with all its plastic parts shattering one by one over the last year. Finally the plastic parts that allowed the motor to run at all fell apart, and it was time to look for a replacement.Searching Amazon's reviews, it seemed the choice was between four star inexpensive powered processors, this one with four and a half stars, or insanely expensive powered processors with a good rating. With some suspicion, and against my wife's urging, I elected to try this one based on other people's reviews.The first use of it is something I used to do with the slicer blade of the old processor, because the regular blades would just turn things to paste. The Kitchen King doesn't have a slicer blade, but with the fine control you get from powering the blades yourself, you can get an equivalent result. For comparison, the regular blade in the old processor, given 8 mushrooms, would turn 4 mushrooms to paste stuck to the outside of the jug, and the other 4 would start bouncing around not getting sliced at all. I could put 12 mushrooms in the Kitchen King and it produced pretty even results. It also did a good job on an onion (which I'd normally just slice by hand because it doesn't take that long) and a can of olives.It took about 8 turns to finely chop each of the ingredients, which combined with the time spent opening the lid, scraping the ingredients out, cleanup etc. was overall faster than using the powered machine (especially when using the slicing blade on the old machine, because removing ingredients required removing the blade first).I haven't, at the time of writing, tried making something that I want to be turned into paste, like a hummus or pesto - if I try it and it doesn't work I'll amend the review, so if a few weeks have gone by, you can assume there's no problem there!Also haven't used the mandolin blade, the egg separator or the mixer, but chances are I never will. They're not what this was bought for.One tiny tiny negative - the manual and recipe book doesn't seem to be the original one, but rather extremely cheaply printed copies stapled together in the corner. It still has the format of a center-stapled double-sided booklet, with two pages per printed sheet. But I don't care about that, and you shouldn't either.Update: the chopping blade works fine to make pastry, which is something I was hoping for that nobody else had mentioned. (Two and a half cups of flour, one cup of margarine, teaspoon of salt, add water slowly while mixing until it gets blobby.) It also successfully chopped frozen cauliflower and frozen broccoli.Update 2: after being away for a month, using this again when we returned was amazing. It's so easy and convenient, you forget just how easy and convenient it is!Update 3: after a couple of years, when I was trying to chop something resilient like sweet potatoes, the cog the handle attaches onto snapped. Knocked off one star from my previously 5 star review for longevity, still would recommend it.
